The 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗘𝗢) of 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 invites faculty and staff to submit innovative, responsive, sustainable, and community-driven extension project proposals under the 2nd Call for 2027 Internal Funding.

Proposals should be aligned with the KomUNIBERSIDAD Framework and its six thematic areas: Kalusugan, Kabuhayan, Karunungan, Kalikasan, Ka-Teknolohiya, and Katarungan.

Completed and ongoing extension projects may also be submitted for evaluation and presentation during the In-House Review. Proponents are encouraged to ensure that all required forms and templates are properly accomplished and submitted.

NOW HAPPENING | 2026 MIMAROPA Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week - Opening Ceremony

The 2026 MIMAROPA Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) is officially underway today, August 17, in Romblon!

The opening ceremony highlights the Smart Islands Rising technology launches and partnerships advancing mobility, water security, resilience, connectivity, and sustainable communities. This groundbreaking event is attended by DOST officials, local government leaders, partner institutions, and stakeholders across the Region.

📩 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘

A productive 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 was conducted via Zoom for the faculty members of the 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 (CPAG), facilitated by the 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (ESCEO).

The orientation highlighted the importance of conducting a systematic needs assessment as a foundation for developing community-driven, evidence-based, and responsive extension programs. Faculty members were introduced to key approaches, including Key Informant Interviews (KII), Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and informed consent, as essential tools in identifying community needs, priorities, and local realities.

This initiative reinforces the commitment of Romblon State University to strengthen meaningful community engagement and ensure that extension interventions are anchored on actual community needs, translating identified concerns into relevant and impactful programs and projects.

📣 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘

The 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (ESCEO) and the 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝘂𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (IO) met with the faculty of the 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (CCMADI) for a 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 on the proposed 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗦𝗪𝗗 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 (SLP) in Romblon.

The proposed platform will integrate sales reporting, product inventory, enterprise profiling, project monitoring, and performance tracking, giving DSWD timely and organized data on SLP enterprises.

Through digitalization, the platform will enable more efficient monitoring of sales and inventory, project progress, enterprise performance, and intervention needs, while simplifying reporting and supporting faster, evidence based decision making.

This initiative strengthens collaboration among RSU ESCEO, Innovation Office, CCMADI, and DSWD Romblon in developing technology driven solutions for more responsive, efficient, and sustainable livelihood programs.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿: 𝗔 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲!
It was a success! The REDI Office conducted a productive three-day workshop, "Building the Future Together" from July 20 to 22, 2026. This was attended by the Extension chairpersons and Research and Development staff to co-create the Archipelagic Research and Extension Agenda for 2026 2030.
Day 1 opened with a warm welcome from Dr. Evelie Serrano (PhilEASNet President), a message from Prof. Dr. Eddie G. Fetalvero and an inspirational message from Prof. Dr. Merian P. Catajay Mani. This was followed by sessions on extension services, community empowerment, and RSU's five-year roadmap, capped off with a SWOT analysis and guided workshop.
Day 2 featured the presentation of the proposed Research and Extension Framework, followed by Guided Workshop 2 facilitated by Dr. Fernando V. Magdato, Jr. Prof. Rowena DT. Baconguis, PhD. (UP Los Baños) then presented the group outputs. The day also included a session on the Futures of Research and Extension by Dr. Christian Leubert C. Milambiling (UP Los Baños). Day 2 closed with the presentation of RSU's Roadmap 2026 and Beyond and further guided workshops on the proposed roadmap and thematic accomplishments.
The workshop culminated on Day 3 with the presentation of the consolidated three-day outputs by Prof. Baconguis, and a Synthesis by Dr. Magdato. The Ways Forward and Closing Message were delivered by Dr. Eddie Fetalvero of Romblon State University.
Three days of collaboration, shared insights, and a united vision for the future of research and extension in the archipelago. Thank you to all our partner institutions and participants!

The 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 – 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 (RSU-CAFES), in partnership with the 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 (CET), 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗖𝗔𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗗, the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 (PCA), the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 (DA), and the 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘀 (LGUs) of 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗮, successfully conducted a 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (FGD) with 𝙘𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙪𝙩 𝙛𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙨 and 𝙠𝙚𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 in preparation for the upcoming capacity-building training program.

The activity aimed to assess the participants' current knowledge, identify priority needs, and determine the challenges affecting coconut production. The findings will serve as the basis for developing a responsive, evidence-based, and community-driven training program that will enhance farmers' capacities and contribute to the sustainable development of the coconut industry in Romblon.

The successful conduct of the activity reflects the strong collaboration among partner institutions, local government units, agricultural offices, and the university's extension teams. It also underscores the vital role of coconut farmers as key partners in shaping programs that are relevant to local needs and realities.

With the consultation phase completed, preparations are now underway for the implementation of the capacity-building training program, reinforcing the shared commitment of all partners to empower coconut farming communities and promote sustainable agricultural development.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿: 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀!

The REDI Office continued the "Building the Future Together" workshop today, July 21, 2026, for the creation of Archipelagic Research and Extension Agenda for 2026 2030.

The day opened with the presentation of the proposed Research and Extension Framework by the Extension and Research Directors, followed by Guided Workshop 2, where participants examined existing gaps, ways forward, and needed revisions under the facilitation of Dr. Fernando V. Magdato, Jr. Group outputs were then presented by Prof. Rowena DT. Baconguis, PhD. (UP Los Baños), followed by a session on the Futures of Research and Extension led by Dr. Christian Leubert C. Milambiling (UP Los Baños).

After lunch, the university presented its Roadmap 2026 and Beyond, followed by Guided Workshop 3 for comments and suggestions on the proposed roadmap with Dr. Baconguis and Dr. Milambiling. The day closed with Guided Workshop 4, where participants, grouped by thematic area, envisioned RSU's future accomplishments in research and extension under the guidance of Dr. Agustin and Dr. Gutierrez.

Resource speakers from Cavite State University, Southern Luzon State University, and the University of Southeastern Philippines led engaging sessions on extension services, community empowerment, and RSU's five year roadmap. The day closed with a productive guided workshop on RDE achievements and challenges of every college/campus.
