Grade 10, 12 students join the Career Guidance Week 2024 aimed at providing enlightenment for their dream profession
The Ocampo National High School held the Career Guidance Week 2024 for Grade 10 and 12 students consisting of Parade of Professions and Career Guidance Talk on February 1, 2024 as part of the Career Guidance Program (CGP), with the theme, “KARERA AY PAGHANDAAN PARA SA MATATAG NA KINABUKASAN” aimed at providing students an enlightenment in choosing their career paths.
This pursuit is part of the Career Guidance Program (CGP) that aims to guide secondary level students in choosing career tracks that they intend to pursue through informed career choices toward becoming productive and contributing individuals as stated RA No. 11206 known as Secondary Career Guidance and Counseling Act of 2019. Furthermore, anchored on Department of Education through OUOPS Memorandum Number-2023-03-8149, in support to the MATATAG agenda of making the curriculum relevant to produce competent, job-ready, active, and responsible citizens by taking good care of our learners by promoting learner well-being, inclusive education and a positive learning environment.
To add, this activity is designed to provide students with relevant information about educational and career choices, occupations, and fields of work; to guide the students in planning and choosing a career path by fostering career understanding and informed decision making; and, to promote and strengthen the academic, social, emotional, and career development of students through Career Guidance Activities.
The Parade of Professions being one of the activities in the event is done along the main street of Ocampo that echoed with the resounding footsteps of ambition as the students marched proudly in their costumes that depict their dream profession from Ocampo Sports Complex to ONHS Media Center Pavilion followed by photo opportunity for each section from Grade 10 and Grade 12, together with the invited professionals from Ocampo Municipal Health Office, Bureau of Fire Protection and Philippine National Police, the partner agencies.
The Parade of Professions, ‘a vibrant spectacle of determination and purpose’, showcased the diverse dreams of the students from aspiring engineers to budding artists, each participant donned the emblem of their chosen profession, embodying the spirit of possibility and perseverance, according to individuals who watched the parade.
After the parade, Mr. Jeffry A. Gilbuena, the SHS Assistant Principal for Academics-Designate discussed the topic on “Preparation for SHS and Future Profession” while in the afternoon, invited Guidance Counselors led the talk. Ms. Rossel B. Sanchez, RGC, talked about the Values and Ethics in the Workplace. Meanwhile, Ms. Maria Korina P. Enriquez, RPm, RGC discussed the topic on “Consideration and Tips in Deciding Curriculum Exit.”
Spearheaded by Ms. Ledie T. Cano, the School Guidance Counselor -JHS and Dr. Xenia S. Baesa- Alfelor, the appointed SHS Guidance Coordinator, the symposium served as a beacon of guidance, illuminating the intricate nuances of various vocations.
Through engaging and insightful discussions, students were offered a glimpse into the realities and rewards of their dream professions. From the pulsating rhythms of entrepreneurship to the precision of scientific inquiry, each discourse paved the way for introspection and discovery.
As the symposium drew to a close, the ONHS Pavilion reverberated with the echoes of possibility and promise. Armed with newfound insights and fortified resolve, students embarked on their journey towards a future brimming with potential and purpose.
The program was faclitated by the Masters of Ceremony, Ms. Jo Angeli I. Ong and Mr. Jayson M. Quiniano, teachers at ONHS while Ms. Lily T. Sola, SHS Coordinator gave the closing remarks.
