The splashdown of the Apollo 17 command module in the Pacific Ocean in December 1972 marked the close of NASAโ€™s crewed lunar exploration.

More than 50 years later, another splashdown is unfoldingโ€”but this time, the Artemis Program signals not an ending, but the dawn of a new era.

A teacher never gets tired of making a difference in their students' lives until he reaches his full potential.

As the Culminating Activity of the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program of ONHS started, Ma'am Shera May A. Mendoza, a tutor, talk about her encounters and realizations during tutoring sessions on March 13, 2026 at ONHS Pavilion.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽMendoza told the participants in the culminating activity that โ€œteaching a struggling reader doesn't depend on the instructional materialsโ€, for it requires you to learn to sacrifice your time and focus, extend your flexibility as flexible as a rubber, emotional understanding like a therapist, and infinite support like a parent.
โ€Ž
โ€Žโ€œAnother important challenge I faced was my own patience. Working with a developing learner demands a different pacing and mindset. The process was often gradual, sometimes, almost invisible.โ€ Mendoza stated.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽDespite the qualities expected, she proudly introduced her Tutee, John Christopher Cerillo, mentioning that she used to be the advisee of their class, specifically, 7-Juno.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽShe talked about the struggles of patience in tutoring, indirectly stating about the cycle of a larva that in order for a larva to become a butterfly, it must wait for a long time to progress, become a pupa, before shining brightly and beautifully as a fully developed butterflyโ€”reassuring every tutors, tutees, and parents that everything will be all worth it in the end.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽEven if there are times where the roads are all slippery and blurry, Shera managed to keep her and her Tutee's head upโ€”now resulting for her Tutee getting an award for the ARAL Program for successfully improving his reading proficiencyโ€”now, he's creating his own cycle of metamorphosis.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽAs Ma'am Mendoza finishes her speech, she mentioned about her last realization; that reading intervention is not solely an academic taskโ€”it is human connection.
โ€Ž
Struggling learners need patience, encouragement, nourishment, and a voice in their own learning process. In the end, they will realize their own story of metamorphosisโ€”a journey of patience and growth.

Representing Ocampo National High School and the Ocampo District, Richard Sanoy and Avana Pollos triumphed as the 4th placers in the 3rd Congressional District Festival of Talents for Science and Mathematics, featuring the STEMazing Contest at Siembre High School, last February 26, 2026.

With the guidance of their coach, Edward T. Comboy, they managed to pass every station of science and mathematical challenges.

"Every station gave us different levels of problems; we really needed to think outside the box and recall our Math and Science lessons," Sanoy said.
