Important Security Update: Gate Closure & Access Adjustments

Dear SMAD Parents and Families,

In light of the recent tragic active shooting incident at a private school in Zamboanga, our administration is taking immediate action to review and strengthen our campus safety protocols. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our children is, and always will be, our top priority.

To ensure strict entry control and maximize security personnel at our primary access points, Gate 4 will be closed during morning drop-off, effective August 24, 2026.

By closing Gate 4, we are able to consolidate our guard force and concentrate our security screening measures at Gates 1, 2, and 3, where the vast majority of our students enter each day.

We understand that this change may alter morning routines or add a few extra minutes to your drop-off schedule. However, concentrating our resources allows our security team to thoroughly monitor every individual entering our grounds and maintain a safe environment for everyone.

Summary of Changes:
Gate 4: Closed until further notice.
Gates 1, 2, and 3: Fully operational with intensified security and guard presence.
Effective Date: August 24, 2026

We deeply appreciate your cooperation, patience, and shared commitment to keeping our school community safe. Please plan your drop-off and pick-up routines accordingly.

Thank you for your continued trust and support.

Our prayers,

School Administration

Safety First: Stella Maris Academy of Davao Conducts Campus Crisis Preparedness Training

In line with its commitment to maintaining a secure and nurturing educational environment, the faculty and staff of Stella Maris Academy of Davao (SMAD) completed a specialized seminar on Bomb Threat Awareness and an Active Shooter Drill on July 27, 2026, at the SMAD Campus. The training was conducted by PCol. Chief Jun Magante of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) K9 unit.
Designed to enhance institutional readiness, the activity focused on crucial emergency response procedures, hazard identification, and risk mitigation strategies tailored for school environments. By empowering its personnel with practical safety skills and emergency protocols, SMAD reinforces its pledge to safeguard the well-being of its students, educators, and the entire school community.

Stella Maris Academy of Davao continues to strengthen its campus security through proactive safety initiatives, continuous professional development, and strong partnerships with city law enforcement agencies.

On August 10, 2026, we celebrate the feast of St. Candida Maria de Jesus, a woman who lived with faith, love, and dedication to God.

Inspired by her example, may we continue to believe, belong, and build one another as one Marisian community. May her life remind us that when we put our trust in Jesus, we have everything we need. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปโœจ

St. Candida Maria de Jesus, pray for us.
