𝟕𝟎 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐒 | 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐭

Learning does not simply run its course when one dons an academic regalia, for the path to knowledge can only be of value when it is shared with others.

The corridors where Demy Genne Ratilla once walked with ambition and the walls from within he once sat in pursuit of excellence, are the same ones he still calls home. Albeit this time, he stands on the other side as a steward for those that walk the trail he once braved.

A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology, memories of his own challenges are still vivid in Ratilla’s mind. The angst of handling real patients for the first time, the realization of the deep responsibility vested onto him, and the doubts that crept in amid times of exhausting academic demands. These adversities however, he attests, are the very impetus to his moments of clarity – the moments wherein he found deep purpose in the profession he chose.

Having returned to San Pedro College (SPC), this time as a faculty in the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS), Ratilla’s journey traces itself back to his roots, as now he guides students who hold the same ambition and uncertainty he shouldered. Time has reshaped his responsibilities, but the resolve to contribute to the growth of knowledge still drives his passion towards his craft.

“As [San Pedro College] celebrates 70 years, I am filled with gratitude and pride. I carry its values with me in every patient I serve, in every student I teach, and in every step I take forward. I am, and will always be, proud to be an SPCian.”

For Ratilla, SPC stands as more than just an institution, it is where he was molded, where his desire for growth turned into a lifelong calling, and a place he can call home that allowed him to shape his purpose grounded in compassion.
