Safety is more than a locked gate or a watchful guard. Sometimes, it begins with a conversation, a warning heard, a lesson remembered, and a young person brave enough to speak up.
On July 31, 2026, Colegio de San Pascual Baylon welcomed personnel from the Obando Municipal Police Station (MPS) for a meaningful series of seminars on Juvenile Justice, Crime Prevention, and Active Shooter Emergency Preparedness. The activity was organized by the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), headed by SSLG Executive Officer Juztine Dave Maรฑo, with the goal of equipping Paschalians with knowledge, awareness, and the courage to protect themselves and others.
The first session opened the conversation on Juvenile Justice and Crime Prevention, reminding students that understanding the law is also a form of protection. The discussion explored the realities of crime, the importance of making responsible choices, and the rights and responsibilities of young people in the community.
More importantly, the speakers reminded Paschalians that silence should never become the shield of violence. Students were encouraged to speak up when they witness acts of violence, intimidation, harassment, or other forms of wrongdoing. They were reminded that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it is an act of courage.
The second session shifted the focus from prevention to preparedness through an Active Shooter and Emergency Preparedness Seminar. Students were guided on what to do during an emergency and how proper awareness and preparedness can help minimize casualties and protect lives. The session gave them a clearer picture of how to respond when every second matters.
Beyond procedures and protocols, the seminars carried a deeper message: in an emergency, knowledge can be a shield, awareness can be a compass, and courage can be the first step toward safety.
For the SSLG, the activity was more than another seminar on the school calendar. It was a timely reminder that schools are not only places where students learn from books, but also places where they learn how to navigate the world beyond the classroom.
The SSLG extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Philippine National Police (PNP), particularly the Obando Municipal Police Station, led by PMSg Jayson Quidasol, Finance PNCO, under the supervision of PMAJ Erickson Miranda, Chief of Police, for sharing their time, expertise, and guidance with Paschalian.
The council also expresses its sincere appreciation to the administration and the entire Colegio de San Pascual Baylon community for allowing and supporting activities that put student safety, awareness, and well-being at the heart of school life. These opportunities remind us that education does not end when the bell rings, it continues whenever we learn how to care for ourselves, look after one another, and stand for what is right.
The day may have ended, but its lessons remain.
Because a Paschalian who knows is a Paschalian who is prepared. A Paschalian who cares is a Paschalian who protects. And a Paschalian who speaks up can help make a community safer for everyone.
Knowledge became the shield. Courage became the voice. Together, Paschalians learned that safety is something we build one informed, compassionate, and courageous choice at a time. ๐ค๐
