GADvocates, alam mo ba?

Noong Enero 6, 1812, ipinanganak si Melchora Aquino o mas kilala bilang Tandang Sora, ang Ina ng Rebolusyon. Binuksan niya ang kaniyang tahanan para sa mga katipunero, kinupkop sila, pinakain at binigyan ng kaunting salapi, at itinuro ang mga ligtas na lugar upang makaiwas sa pag-uusig ng mga Kastila. Dahil sa kanyang pagtulong sa Katipunan, siya ay inaresto ng mga Guardia Civil, ikinulong sa Bilibid Prison sa Maynila, at ipinatapon ng mga Espanyol sa Guam, kung saan siya nanilbihan ng pitong taon. Bumalik si Tandang Sora sa Pilipinas noong Pebrero 26, 1903, sa edad na 91. Namatay siya noong 1919 sa edad na 107.

Noong Enero 6, 1975 ay ipinagdiwang ng Pilipinas ang kaniyang kaarawan kasabay ng selebrasyon ng International Women’s Year ng United Nations.

Kinabukasan nito, Enero 7, 1975, itinatag ang unang national women machinery sa Asya - ang National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women, na ngayo’y kilala bilang Philippine Commission on Women. Maaari rin itong ituring na “Ina ng Gender Equality at Women Empowerment” sa Pilipinas.

The 𝓐𝓢𝓤-𝓒𝓕𝓜𝓢 𝓖𝓮𝓷𝓭𝓮𝓻 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓓𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓵𝓸𝓹𝓶𝓮𝓷𝓽 𝓞𝓯𝓯𝓲𝓬𝓮 conducted two highlighted events last December 6, 2024, which showed its advocacy and community involvement.

The 𝙲𝚑𝚊𝚖𝚋𝚎𝚛 𝚘𝚏 𝙹𝚞𝚗𝚒𝚘𝚛 𝙲𝚞𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚖𝚜 𝙱𝚛𝚘𝚔𝚎𝚛 𝚂𝚘𝚌𝚒𝚎𝚝𝚢 𝙸𝚗𝚌. and the students of the 𝙽𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚕 𝚂𝚎𝚛𝚟𝚒𝚌𝚎 𝚃𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙿𝚛𝚘𝚐𝚛𝚊𝚖 (𝙽𝚂𝚃𝙿) joined forces to conduct the "𝒜𝒮𝒰-𝒞𝐹𝑀𝒮 𝒞𝑜𝒶𝓈𝓉𝒶𝓁 𝒞𝓁𝑒𝒶𝓃-𝒰𝓅: 𝒜𝓃 𝐸𝓃𝓋𝒾𝓇𝑜𝓃𝓂𝑒𝓃𝓉𝒶𝓁 𝒜𝓌𝒶𝓇𝑒𝓃𝑒𝓈𝓈 𝒾𝓃 𝒱𝒜𝒲𝒞 𝑀𝑜𝓃𝓉𝒽" activity. The 𝙶𝚞𝚒𝚍𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚎 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝙲𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚂𝚎𝚛𝚟𝚒𝚌𝚎𝚜 𝙾𝚏𝚏𝚒𝚌𝚎 also conducted a mental health activity, "𝒮𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒴𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝐻𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓉 𝒪𝓊𝓉: 𝒜 𝑀𝑒𝓃𝓉𝒶𝓁 𝐻𝑒𝒶𝓁𝓉𝒽 𝒜𝒸𝓉𝒾𝓋𝒾𝓉𝓎," at the admin building.

The goal of the coastal cleanup effort was to raise awareness of VAWC and to promote environmental conservation. In addition, Sing Your Heart Out: A Mental Health Activity served as an avenue for staff members, instructors, and students to unwind, break from their routine, and gain new energy.

Through these programs, the ASU-CFMS prepares the community to be proactive in their advocacy and consistently prioritize environmental and well-being advocacy.

𝓐𝓢𝓤-𝓒𝓕𝓜𝓢 𝓙𝓸𝓲𝓷𝓼 𝓽𝓱𝓮 ❷０❷❹ 𝓒𝓪𝓶𝓹𝓪𝓲𝓰𝓷 𝓽𝓸 𝓔𝓷𝓭 𝓥𝓲𝓸𝓵𝓮𝓷𝓬𝓮 𝓐𝓰𝓪𝓲𝓷𝓼𝓽 𝓦𝓸𝓶𝓮𝓷 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓒𝓱𝓲𝓵𝓭𝓻𝓮𝓷 (𝓥𝓐𝓦𝓒)

Last November 25, 2024, Aklan State University 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 joined the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) this year, starting from November 25–December 12, 2024.

This campaign encourages a stop to violence against women and children through change, action, and awareness. Other materials provided by the office of Gender and Development include 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙡𝙮𝙚𝙧𝙨, 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙙𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙨 that serve as reminders of a safe and fair environment. Moreover, the faculty and staff members wore bright orange to commemorate the 𝐎𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, started last November 27, 2024. This was a visual declaration of much hope and a brighter future without violence.
