Three faculty members of Aklan State University–New Washington Campus, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗘𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗖. 𝗚𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗲𝘆 𝗗. 𝗣𝗲ñ𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘆𝗼, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗿𝘀. 𝗠𝗲𝘆𝘇𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗗. 𝗣𝗲ñ𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘆𝗼-𝗖𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮, have been included in the Western Visayas Translators Directory: Translation and Localization Professionals in the Region (2026–2027), an initiative of the UP Visayas Language Program Office.

Their inclusion in the directory highlights their involvement in the growing network of translators and language professionals across Western Visayas. The initiative aims to make translation and localization services more accessible while creating opportunities for collaboration in education, research, cultural work, translation, and other language-related initiatives throughout the region.

The recognition reflects the commitment of ASU–New Washington faculty to promoting language, culture, scholarship, and regional collaboration. Through their participation, they contribute to building a stronger community of professionals dedicated to advancing translation practices and celebrating the linguistic and cultural diversity of Western Visayas.

Aklan State University, through Ms. Karen Joy Pagunsan of the ASU New Washington Campus, participated in the Filipino Leaders in Advancing International Reputation (FLAIR) – Visayas Leg, held on September 8–9, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center Bacolod, SM City, Bishop Antonio Y. Fortich Avenue, Bacolod City.

With the theme “Beyond Rankings: Strengthening Global Reputation,” the two-day activity brought together higher education representatives to strengthen institutional capacities in internationalization, global university rankings, research visibility, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), sustainability, innovation, and international partnerships. The program also featured workshops aimed at guiding higher education institutions in understanding and responding to global ranking frameworks and sustainability impact rankings.

Representing Aklan State University, Ms. Pagunsan’s participation underscores the University’s continuing efforts to advance its internationalization agenda, strengthen its global reputation, and explore opportunities for greater academic and institutional engagement. Her participation also highlights ASU–New Washington Campus’ contribution to the University’s pursuit of quality, innovation, and globally responsive higher education.

University Officials from Aklan State University–New Washington Campus participated in the Crisis Management on Active Shooting Incidents and Basic Intelligence Program on September 11, 2026, further strengthening the University’s commitment to campus safety, security, and emergency preparedness.

Representing Aklan State University were Ms. Dina M. Lariosa, Director of Security Services, and Ms. Gerlen P. Cañonero, Director of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) and DRRM Coordinator. As University officials entrusted with key responsibilities in security, disaster risk reduction, and student preparedness, their participation supports the continuous enhancement of the University’ capacity to prevent, assess, and respond to potential threats and emergency situations.

The first day of the program focused on Orientation on Threat Identification, covering threat identification, information collection, profiling of potential human risks or threats, investigation, analysis and assessment, and decision-making. The training provides relevant knowledge and strategies that can contribute to strengthening safety and crisis management mechanisms within the University.

In celebration of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Celebration, faculty and staff of Aklan State University–New Washington Campus joined hands in the “Puso sa Kalikasan” activity, demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship and a greener campus community.

Faculty and staff worked together in their respective assigned areas, engaging in planting, gardening, cleaning, and beautification activities across the campus. Beyond enhancing the University’s surroundings, the initiative promotes teamwork, shared responsibility, and care for the environment among public servants.

Through Puso sa Kalikasan, ASU–New Washington strengthens a culture of environmental responsibility while contributing to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable campus for the entire academic community.

Aklan State University - New Washington Campus conducted the 𝑪𝒂𝒔𝒉 𝑷𝒂𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑻𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕, “Restoring Coastal Resilience Through Rehabilitation of Mangrove Areas in New Washington, Aklan,” an extension project funded by the One Meralco Foundation. The activity was conducted on August 26, 2026.

This initiative provided financial support to 60 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 from Barangays Pinamuk-an, Guinbaliwan, and Lawaan, New Washington, Aklan, who have actively participated in mangrove rehabilitation and coastal restoration activities.

Beyond the financial assistance, the activity strengthens community participation and reinforces our shared commitment to mangrove conservation, coastal resilience, transparency, and sustainable coastal resource management. 🌱

𝗕𝗦𝗠𝗕 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗜𝗩 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗨𝗣 𝗘𝘅𝗶𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

Aklan State University–New Washington Campus concludes the Level IV Accreditation of its Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology (BSMB) Program through an Exit Conference held on September 11, 2026, via Zoom Meeting. The activity marks the culmination of the accreditation evaluation conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) and highlights the University’s continuing pursuit of academic excellence and quality assurance.

During the conference, Prof. Grace B. Brizuela, AACCUP Team Leader, presents the accreditation team’s general impression, highlighting observations gathered throughout the evaluation. Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin, SUC President III, delivers the Message of Commitment, reaffirming the University’s dedication to continuous improvement and its commitment to sustaining and further strengthening the quality of the BSMB Program.

Certificates are also awarded to the AACCUP accreditors in recognition of their valuable expertise and service throughout the accreditation process. Dr. Eleanor F. Rosales, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivers the closing remarks.

The successful completion of the Level IV accreditation evaluation reflects ASU–New Washington Campus’ commitment to maintaining high standards in instruction, research, extension, and other areas of academic excellence, particularly in advancing marine biology education and preparing globally competitive graduates.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 (𝗕𝗦𝗠𝗕) program of Aklan State University–New Washington Campus undergoes its 𝗔𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗨𝗣 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗜𝗩 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 2 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 beginning September 9, 2026, via Zoom. The three-day accreditation activity, scheduled until September 11, underscores the University’s continuing commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and the continuous improvement of its academic programs.

The Opening Programme featured remarks from Dr. RJ A. Ampoyos, Campus Director, followed by a message from Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin, SUC President III. Dr. Catherine C. Ruance, Director for Quality Assurance, introduced the AACCUP accreditors, while Dr. Reyda I. Inolino, Dean of the College of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, presented the Local Task Force. Prof. Grace B. Brizuela, AACCUP Team Leader, delivered the statement of purpose and orientation on the program evaluation. She is joined by Dr. Elsie J. Cacho as member of the accreditation team.

Following the opening program, the first day proceeds with the orientation with counterparts, briefing and clarification of activities, review of uploaded documents, preparation for the seminar proper and question-and-answer sessions, and triangulation activities. Through this accreditation endeavor, ASU–New Washington continues to uphold its pursuit of “Quality that Inspires Excellence” and strengthen the delivery of quality marine science education.
