The Alternative Learning SystemâNew Bataan District held its combined graduation exercises and 6th moving up ceremony on July 16, 2025, at the Municipal Gymnasium in New Bataan, Davao de Oro, Philippines, under the DepEd mandated theme, Generation of Unity: Partners for the New Philippinesâa unifying motif emphasizing the strength of collective partnership in nation building. The ceremony was attended by Municipal Mayor Hon. Mar Bianca Cualing-Brua and Dr. Andy P. Cabodoc, Education Program Supervisor (EPS) for SNED and Kindergarten, both of whom delivered inspirational messages to the ALS graduates, celebrating their dedication and urging them to carry forward the spirit of unity as they advance to new educational heights. The event was attended by some DepED district personnels, Dr. Charmaine Jay Refuerzo, Dr. Shirley Jean Sugano and Dwight Mangaliwan. It was also attended by Eddie Jr. A. Cabansag,EPSA II. Present also during the event were barangay Cabinuangan chairman, Sergio Mabasa and sangguniang bayan member John Clyde O. Manabit.
The guest speaker maâam Roselily A. Olarte, a 57-year-old, underscored the enduring truth behind ALS: âItâs never too late to learn.â Drawing from her real-life story inspired many that age is not a barrier to education. She emphasized how ALS represents a powerful second chance for those who paused their schooling for work, family, or lifeâs challenges. Aged learners and out of school youth alike have used ALS to reclaim their self-worth, graduate from basic education, and open doors to better opportunities. The speaker reaffirmed that ALS isnât just about finishing school but itâs also about restoring hope, empowering dreams, and proving that learning and life transformations are possible at any stage.
