Samahan ng mga Guro sa Araling Panlipunan-SAGAP First organized in 2024 and officially formed in 2025.

The organization is formed to advance knowledge and appreciation of Navoteรฑo History and Culture through the empowerment of its Araling Panlipunan Teachers.

We join the Filipino people in remembering Guillermo Tolentino on his 136th birth anniversary today, 24 July 2026.

He is best known for his excellence in classical sculpture, oftentimes depicting historical figures in monuments which still impress viewers to this day. He was also an advocate for Filipino culture, often writing the name of the hero being depicted in baybayin, a writing system of early Filipinos.

He was recognized as National Artist for Sculpture in 1973. A historical marker was also installed at his home in Malolos City, Bulacan.

In commemoration, we are sharing some of his artworks that are under the care of the NHCP.
He was made National Artist for Sculpture for his excellence in classic and monumental artworks, oftentimes depicting historical figures. He is commemorated through a historical marker installed in 2012.

This afternoon, Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo is representing the NHCP in the joint commemoration of Tolentino's birth anniversary and his 50th death anniversary (which was last 12 July) organized by the Malolos City Government.

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in the Philippines, the Municipal Government of Baler, the Provincial Government of Aurora, and other participating agencies; will celebrate the ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’๐“ฝ๐“ฑ ๐“Ÿ๐“ฑ๐“ฒ๐“ต๐“ฒ๐“น๐“น๐“ฒ๐“ท๐“ฎ-๐“ข๐“น๐“ช๐“ท๐“ฒ๐“ผ๐“ฑ ๐“•๐“ป๐“ฒ๐“ฎ๐“ท๐“ญ๐“ผ๐“ฑ๐“ฒ๐“น ๐““๐“ช๐”‚ on 30 June 2026 at the San Luis Obispo Parish, Baler, Aurora. Department of Agriculture Secretary Franciso Tiu Laurel, Jr. and Spanish Ambassador Miguel Utray will serve as co-Guests of Honor in the remembrance of the historic Siege of Baler that culminated in the recognition of peace and friendship between the Filipino and Spanish peoples.

The event will also include various activities throughout the month of June, including activities in Baler such as Spanish classes, contests by the Department of Education (DepEd), a celebration of Filipino-Spanish culture, and the opening of the National Museum of the Philippines โ€“ Baler. Events commemorating Col. Simon Tecson in San Miguel, Bulacan; and the annual Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day Conference in October will also be celebrated throughout the year.

Republic Act No. 9187 proclaimed the 30th of June as Philippine-Spanish Friendship day in commemoration of the gallantry of Spanish soldiers that held out for more than a year during the Siege of Baler before honorably surrendering to Col. Tecson and the First Philippine Republic in 1899. In recognition of their faithfulness to their nation, President Emilio Aguinaldo issued a decree recognizing the soldiers as Friends of the Filipino people and ensuring their safe passage back to Spain. Formal diplomatic relations between the two countries began in 1947 and will celebrate its 80th anniversary in 2027.

Sa isang maulang hapon noong ika-28 Agosto 2025, pinasinayaan ang rebulto ni Omaghicon, Datu ng Nabutas (Navotas), sa Navotas Citywalk and Amphitheater. Ang programa ay pinangunahan ng NavoTurismo - Navotas City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office at ng ating butihing alkalde, Mayor John Rey Tiangco. Ang samahan ay lumahok upang ipakita ang ating buong suporta sa mga gawain nagtataguyod sa kasaysayang Navoteรฑo.

The organization was officially founded and recognized by the City Government of Navotas in an oath-taking ceremony held on 24 February 2025 through the effort of the City Tourism and Cultural Office and its head, Mr. Genaro R. Doringo. SAGAP is formed as the education sector support group for promoting and advancing Navotas history and culture.
