Education Works Best When Parents and Teachers Work Together

A child has two classrooms.

The first is at home.

The second is at school.

Neither can replace the other.

A teacher may spend six to eight hours a day guiding a child, but parents shape the values, habits, and attitudes that children bring into the classroom. Likewise, parents cannot see everything their child experiences at school. This is where teachers become their partners.

When parents and teachers communicate, children benefit.

When they support one another, children feel secure.

When they work as a team, children are more likely to succeed—not only in academics but also in behavior, confidence, and emotional well-being.

But when home and school constantly blame each other, it is often the child who pays the price.

A student who hears, "Your teacher is the problem," or "Your parents don't care," may begin to lose trust in the very adults who are trying to help.

Research consistently shows that parental involvement in education is one of the strongest predictors of student success.

A review by John Hattie in Visible Learning found that when parents are actively involved in their children's education, students tend to achieve better academic outcomes and develop more positive attitudes toward learning.

Similarly, Joyce Epstein's Framework of Six Types of Involvement emphasizes that strong partnerships between families and schools improve student achievement, attendance, behavior, and motivation.

Children don't need parents and teachers to be perfect.

They need them to work together.

Because every message becomes stronger when it is heard both at home and in school.

A teacher plants the seed.

A parent nurtures it every day.

Together, they help a child grow into someone who is not only knowledgeable—but also kind, responsible, and resilient.

Education is never the job of one person.

It is a partnership.

And when parents and teachers stand on the same side, children have their greatest chance to succeed.

The countdown to our Grand Alumni Homecoming has officially begun! ❤️🤍

Last July 24, 2026, Melgar National High School officially launched the Melgar NHS Grand Alumni Homecoming 2027, marking the beginning of the year-long activities leading to the celebration of the school’s 60th Founding Anniversary with the theme:

The launching ceremony served as a meaningful gathering of the Melgar NHS Alumni Association (MNHSAA) Officers, Batch Coordinators, and the School Administration, united by a shared commitment to making this historic celebration a memorable success. The program featured the launching of the official Grand Alumni Homecoming Theme Song, the Oath-Taking Ceremony of the newly elected MNHSAA Officers, the Symbolic 60 Bell Rings, the Batch Coordinators’ Pledge of Commitment, and the Signing of the Commitment Wall—all signifying the official start of the preparations for our much-awaited homecoming.

As we begin this exciting journey, we warmly invite all Melgarians, from every batch and wherever you may be, to come home and be part of this once-in-a-generation milestone.
