SMCC Junior High School JOINS 2-DAY PISA FOR SCHOOLS 2026 ORIENTATION AND TRAINING

Saint Michael College of Caraga – Junior High School actively participated in the 2-Day Orientation and Training on PISA-Based Assessment for Schools 2026 for field testing personnel.

Representing SMCC JHS were Mr. Rene A. Japitana, JHS Principal, and Ms. Berfil Olmedo, ICT Coordinator, who attended the capacity-building activity in preparation for the implementation of the PISA for Schools 2026 assessment.

This participation is particularly significant as SMCC JHS has been selected as one of only five (5) sample schools in the Caraga Region and the only private school in the region to participate in PISA for Schools 2026.

The training strengthens the school’s readiness in supporting the assessment process, particularly in the areas of assessment administration, field-testing protocols, digital readiness, and technical requirements.

As SMCC JHS takes part in this international assessment initiative, the school continues to strengthen its commitment to developing learners who are Globally Competent, Spiritually Embodied, and Socially Responsible.

As we look back on the remarkable School Year 2025–2026, the Saint Michael College of Caraga – Junior High School Department proudly recognizes the efforts, dedication, passion, commitment, and service of the men and women of SMCC JHS, together with our parents, learners, partners, alumni, and all stakeholders who continuously journey with us.

The department and its academic community took significant steps toward strengthening quality assurance and institutional excellence through the PACUCOA accreditation process in October 2025.

πŸ“š PEAC Certification
The SMCC JHS Department successfully underwent the PEAC process in November 2025, with its certification granted and recognized until School Year 2029–2030.

βœ… ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit Certification
In March 2026, SMCC passed the surveillance audit ISO 9001:2015 , affirming its continuing commitment to quality management, process improvement, and customer-focused educational service.

These milestones represent more than certificates and accreditation statuses. They represent the countless hours of preparation, documentation, teaching, mentoring, coordination, evaluation, reflection, improvement, and service carried out by the entire SMCC community.

From PACUCOA in October 2025, to PEAC in November 2025, and ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit in March 2026, every milestone tells a story of people working together toward a common purpose.

DAY 4 | SMCC JHS PISA ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

Project SPARK: PISA Readiness for SMCC JHS continues with a hands-on learning experience focused on strengthening learners’ assessment readiness for PISA for Schools 2026.

On Day 4, our learners engaged in a hands-on PISA-like assessment using Khan Academy, providing them with opportunities to apply their knowledge, analyze information, solve problems, and respond to assessment tasks in a digital learning environment.

This activity aims to help learners become more familiar with PISA-oriented assessment approaches, digital learning tools, problem-solving tasks, and higher-order thinking activities as part of SMCC JHS’s continuing preparation for PISA for Schools.

Through Project SPARK, SMCC JHS continues to build the readiness and confidence of both learners and teachersβ€”developing critical thinkers, problem solvers, and digitally capable learners prepared to meet the demands of contemporary assessment and learning.
