Yesterday, 18 June 2026, the College of Arts and Sciences hosted a seminar-workshop on AI in Education at the SMCC Audio-Visual Room, participated in by Michaelinian college instructors.

Facilitated by guest speaker Dr. Frank Aiken Alan, the whole-day learning engagement explored the role and relevance of Artificial Intelligence in teaching, learning, assessment, and academic practice.

From understanding Generative AI tools and platforms to mastering effective prompting techniques, participants engaged in hands-on activities designed to strengthen digital competencies and enhance instructional innovation. Discussions on ethical AI use and academic integrity further emphasized the importance of integrating emerging technologies responsibly and purposefully in education.

As education continues to evolve, CAS remains committed to cultivating educators who are adaptive, innovative, and prepared to lead in an increasingly technology-driven academic landscape.

We commemorate the significance of June 12, the day when the Philippines proclaimed its independence from Spanish colonial rule. It marks a defining moment in our people's history, a declaration of Filipino courage, dignity, and the continuing struggle for self-determination.

As we celebrate Araw ng Kalayaan, may we be reminded that freedom is not only inherited from the bravery of those who came before us. It is also a responsibility we must protect in the present, especially in a world where new forms of oppression, division, and injustice may appear in the guise of progress.

The College of Arts and Sciences honors this day by remembering the patriotism and steadfastness of Filipinos who fought and are continuing to fight for our liberties, and by upholding the responsibility that comes with independence: to think freely, serve truthfully, and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

It was an incredible day filled with connection, purpose, and excitement as we mapped out our annual activities, warmly welcomed our fresh batch of first-year students, and distributed special gifts to all of our amazing CAS students! 🎁✨

This appointment recognizes her commitment to academic leadership, language education, and the continued development of students in the field of English studies. As she takes on this new responsibility, the College looks forward to her meaningful contributions in strengthening instruction, program direction, and student formation.

Through this, CAS strengthens its commitment to organized leadership, shared responsibility, and efficient service delivery across instruction, research, student support, community extension, and departmental operations. Guided by collaboration and accountability, the CAS faculty and staff continue to work together in advancing the College’s goals and ensuring a productive, responsive, and meaningful academic year ahead.
