POWERING SCHOOL SUPPORT
Stakeholders step up, provide essential school amenities

With a shared commitment to strengthening support for learners at Narvacan National Central High School (NNCHS), Lauren Agbayani-Bautista, Austin Respiratory and Medical Supplies Company, and Camden Country Public Library of the United States of America, donated nebulizers, power bank, and books to support the needs and overall welfare of the studentry, July 15.

The donated items were received by Florinda C. Calderon, Teacher VI, and formally turned over to Dr. Christian A. Giron, School Principal IV.

The donations are expected to benefit learners by providing additional learning resources, supporting their health needs, and ensuring access to essential equipment that may be needed within the school.

“The continued support of our stakeholders shows that education is a shared responsibility. Their generosity helps us provide a better learning environment and respond to the needs of our learners,” Dr. Giron said.

Meanwhile, Calderon emphasized that the school is also expecting additional books from the same donors, to further enrich its learning resources and encourage learners to develop a stronger reading habit.

Present during the turnover were Math Department Head Designate Evelyn Domingo, School Administrative Officer IV Zenaida B. Unida, Calderon, and Dr. Giron.

NNCHS, Narvacan MPS join forces for September Crime Prevention drive

Strengthening efforts to keep learners informed and safe, the Narvacan Municipal Police Station through PSSg Orlina Gayo and PSSg Allen Rosal met with Dr. Christian A. Giron, School Principal IV to coordinate activities for the National Crime Prevention Month, August 20.

The meeting centered on the planned Kick-Off Program and a crime prevention symposium designed to equip learners with greater awareness of crime prevention and encourage their active role in maintaining a safe school community.

Ayon sa Memorandum Circular No. 129 mula sa Tanggapan ng Pangulo, magkakaroon ng Alternative Work Arrangements sa mga tanggapan ng pamahalaan sa Ilocos Sur sa Agosto 19, 2026, bilang paghahanda sa inaasahang patuloy na malakas na pag-ulan dulot ng Enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), na maaaring magdulot ng localized flooding at panganib sa paglalakbay.

Kaugnay nito, ang Narvacan National Central High School ay nagpapaabot ng paabiso sa lahat ng mag-aaral, teaching personnel, at non-teaching personnel na ang face-to-face classes ay suspendido, alinsunod sa abiso ng Local Government Unit (LGU) ng Narvacan. Sa halip, modular learning ang ipatutupad upang maipagpatuloy ang pagkatuto ng mga mag-aaral habang isinasaalang-alang ang kanilang kaligtasan.

Alinsunod sa Memorandum Circular No. 128 ng Office of the President, na nag-aatas sa mga tanggapan ng pamahalaan sa Ilocos Sur na magpatupad ng naaangkop na alternative work arrangements sa Agosto 18, 2026 dahil sa patuloy na malakas na pag-ulan na dulot ng Habagat, at alinsunod sa umiiral na mga patakaran at alituntunin ng Civil Service Commission, ang Narvacan National Central High School (NNCHS) ay magpapatupad ng Work-from-Home (WFH) Arrangement para sa mga kwalipikadong kawani sa nasabing araw.

Kasabay nito, bilang bahagi ng Learning Continuity in Emergencies ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon, ang mga face-to-face classes ay pansamantalang hindi isasagawa at ang mga klase ay lilipat sa Modular Distance Learning (MDL) bilang Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM). Sa pamamagitan nito, patuloy na maisasagawa ang mga gawaing pampagkatuto habang binibigyang-prayoridad ang kaligtasan at kapakanan ng mga mag-aaral, g**o, at iba pang kawani ng paaralan.

Ang mga g**o ay inaasahang magbibigay ng naaangkop at makatuwirang learning activities, modules, instructions, at iba pang learning resources sa kanilang mga mag-aaral sa pamamagitan ng mga napagkasunduang communication channels. Isasaalang-alang sa pagbibigay at pagsusumite ng mga gawain ang kalagayan ng panahon, posibilidad ng pagkawala ng kuryente o internet connection, pagbaha, at iba pang sitwasyong maaaring makaapekto sa kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral na makasunod agad sa mga gawain.

Ang mga mag-aaral at magulang/guardian ay hinihikayat na manatiling nakaantabay sa mga abiso at tagubilin ng kanilang mga g**o, class advisers, at sa mga opisyal na communication channels ng NNCHS. Hindi kinakailangang lumabas ng tahanan ang mga mag-aaral upang kumuha o magsumite ng learning materials kung maaari itong ipagpaliban o maisagawa sa ibang ligtas na paraan.

Pangunahing prayoridad ang kaligtasan. Ang pagpapatuloy ng pagkatuto ay isasagawa nang may sapat na konsiderasyon sa aktuwal na kalagayan ng bawat mag-aaral at pamilya. Ang mga susunod na pagbabago sa work arrangement at learning modality ay ipababatid sa pamamagitan ng opisyal na advisory ng paaralan, batay sa mga panibagong kautusan ng pambansa at lokal na pamahalaan.

NNCHS holds SGC meeting;
stakeholders forge partnerships

The Narvacan National Central High School (NNCHS), the Home of the Champions, held an organizational meeting of the School Governance Council (SGC), which led to strengthened partnerships with the stakeholders, August 17.

Presided over by Dr. Christian A. Giron, School Principal IV, the meeting brought together representatives from the local government, law enforcement, health sector, barangays, religious organizations, parents, and learners to discuss pressing school concerns and identify possible solutions.

Ms. Namnama Cachola Manglinong was designated as the SGC Co- Chairperson, while SBM Denille Lou Valera was elected as Co-Chairperson and SK Federated Chairperson Pamela Gasmen as Elected Secretary.

Other notable attendees present in the meeting were SBM Luis Charles Singson and SBM Mark Jun Tejada representing the Local Government Unit (LGU); Atty. Glaiza Baculi of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO); PSSg. Jane Yvonne Arreola of the Narvacan Philippine National Police (PNP); Leah Crisolo, Nurse of the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Narvacan; Barangay Captain Ronel Nartatez; Barangay Kagawad Felicisima Asistin; Barangay Kagawad Melvin Albayalde; Pastor Ryan Daliva and Rommel Ramos of Grace Church; FPC President Samuel F. Gomez; PTA President Violeta Funtanilla; and Justine Jay Cabebe of the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG).

The diverse representation underscored the stakeholders’ shared commitment to supporting NNCHS and improving learner outcomes.

Meanwhile, among the key concerns discussed in the meeting were literacy and numeracy, particularly learners identified for intervention under the ARAL Program, which gained a community support.

Barangay Kagawad Felicisima Asistin, a retired NNCHS teacher, volunteered to assist learners in reading intervention, while Barangay Captain Ronel Nartatez of Sta. Lucia pledged support for the program.

Further, Dr. Giron also presented the Learners’ Basic Health and Nutrition Report, highlighting concerns related to learners’ height, weight, and Body Mass Index (BMI which emphasized that addressing nutritional needs is also essential to helping learners stay healthy, focused, and ready to learn.

On the other hand, Pastor Ryan Daliva of Grace Church, highlighted the role of values formation in improving learners’ discipline, responsibility, and attitude toward learning.

Dr. Giron shared that NNCHS continues to promote values formation through initiatives such as the Campus Ministry Club and religious gatherings that respect learners from different religious backgrounds.

Moreover, the school’s growing enrollment also remains a major concern. Dr. Giron reported that NNCHS currently serves 3,723 learners—1,819 males and 1,904 females—from Grades 7 to 12, with most coming from Narvacan.

He stated, “To address classroom shortages, the SDO Engineering Unit has already measured the site for a proposed four-story, 20-classroom Senior High School building.”

He also added that the school is also looking into the provision of 16 additional classrooms for Junior High School, as several existing rooms are already old and below standard dimensions.

The meeting concluded with stakeholders expressing their willingness to work with NNCHS in addressing its concerns and supporting learner-centered programs.

The gathering affirmed that building champions is a shared responsibility. Through stronger partnerships and collective action, NNCHS continues to turn challenges into opportunities for meaningful solutions.

NNCHS students shine at SIGLAT Iskwela Awards

Several Narvacan National Central High School (NNCHS) learners were recognized for their outstanding achievements in regional, national, and international competitions during the SIGLAT Iskwela Awarding hosted by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur at the Chavit Coliseum, Aug 13.

SIGLAT Iskwela is an annual recognition program honoring Ilocos Surians who have excelled in various competitions and brought pride and honor to the province through their talents, determination, and accomplishments.

Among the NNCHS awardees were members of the Collaborative and Desktop Publishing Team, Reina Jade Damasco, Candace Khezler Ancheta, Richille Danielle Sampilo, Lujille Aisha Aprecio, Edrian Juztine Gabagat, Enrique Rafael Comiso and Ryan Joel Antolin, who were recognized for clinching Best in News Page during the 2026 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) under the coaching of Ricadel Cereno-Lim.

Similarly, NNCHS athletes were recognized for their remarkable performances in various sporting competitions.

The NNCHS volleyball teams, coached by Jomar Sylvania, were honored for their achievements in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Akari Cup, where they secured top finishes in the U18 Regional and North Luzon Championships and advanced to the quarterfinal rounds of higher-level competitions.

The girls’ volleyball team was composed of Sunday Jhoy Asistin, Mharen Kyllie Begonia, Kate Ann Caabay, Danica Cabusora, Jellie-Ann Cabasan, Jameela Cabreros, Chloe Angeleigh Cadacio, Jenny Carillo, Myla Concordia, team captain Nicole Cordero, Sophia Kayelene Molina, and Shaine Rafal.

Meanwhile, the boys’ volleyball team included Matt Aldrin Barrey, Nathan Barrey, Norvin Barrey, Michael Reynaldo Bello III, Gabriel Victor Cabras, Emerson Calpito, Andrey Casuga, Roderic Galinato, Rayver Maigue, Jade Rafael Etrata of Santiago National High School, and Jhory Fajarito of Tagudin National High School.

In basketball, the NNCHS Girls’ Basketball Team, coached by Russel Funtanilla, likewise earned recognition after securing a bronze medal in the 2026 Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA).

The team was composed of Shella Mae Cabuloy, April Cabarles, Aira Corres, Kelly Krisha Mae Peralta, Princess Mae Arquines, Dianne Forte, Shyne Cabello, Rhianne Jayzelle Cabotage, Jillian Khai Garcia, Rose Jean Dato, Xhyra Mae Enrico, and Anne Margaux Cabus.

Beyond the sporting arena, NNCHS learners also excelled in academic competitions gaining a spot in the Siglat Iskwela Awards, with Marc Andrae Cabreros and Carl Ronquillo bagging silver medals while Arabella Quio-Isen earning a bronze medal in the Siam International Math and Science Olympiad (SIMSO) 2026 National Level, with the assistance of coaches Merna Cabbat, Efren Cabotage, and Liza Marie Fagela.

Adding to the school’s growing list of international achievements, Cj Cabreros was also awarded in the said provincial program after being an Overall General Classification Champion in the Gimcheon International Junior Road Race in Korea, becoming the first Filipino cyclist to win the competition.

Eliyah Ethan Cacas also earned recognition after securing a bronze medal in the 14–15 Individual Time Trial (ITT) Cycling National Event.

Furthermore, NNCHS robotics learners under the guidance of coach Roxanne Rimbaoa also received recognition for their achievements in several regional robotics competitions.

In the DOST Regional Science and Technology Week–Robotech Cup, Reysther Billones, Ryan Joel Gines Antolin, Erreca Aquino, Lanscer Gamet, and Dave Lawrence Raquepo emerged as champions in the Search and Rescue category.

Meanwhile, Andrew Dale Callejo, Aethan Asistin, and Klyne Jemiel Langiden clinched the championship in the Erovoutika V1 Line Tracing category of Regional Robolution 2025.

In the Summer Robot Games and Youth Robotics Convention 2025, Reysther T. Billones secured a silver medal in the Ibeam Line Tracing Senior category.

Also in the same convention, Erecca Aquino, Dave Lawrence Raquepo, Raven Molina, and Justin Rosqueta earned bronze medals in the Incredible Machine category.

Moreover, Jonaz Padillo was also recognized in the SIGLAT Iskwela Awards after bagging a gold medal in the Regional Interschool Taekwondo Competition.

For his part, Provincial Governor Jeremias “Jerry” Singson congratulated the awardees and expressed his pride in the Ilocos Surians who continue to bring honor to the province through their talent, perseverance, and accomplishments.

NNCHS awardees, on the other hand, expressed their gratitude to the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur for recognizing their efforts and achievements, noting that their accomplishments allowed them to represent not only their school but also Narvacan and the entire province in competitions held at various levels.

ISDH-Narvacan nagsagawa ng symposium; NNCHS champs bumida sa aktibong pakikilahok

Bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Linggo ng Kabataan, pinangunahan ng Ilocos Sur District Hospital–Narvacan (ISDH–Narvacan) ang isang Adolescent Health Symposium na may temang “Malusog na Kabataan, Pag-asa ng Bayan” na isinagawa sa New Gymnasium ng Narvacan National Central High School (NNCHS), Agosto 12.

Tinalakay sa symposium ang mahahalagang usapin tungkol sa wastong nutrisyon at pisikal na aktibidad, kalusugang pangkapaligiran, pag-iwas sa paggamit ng mapanganib na bagay, kalusugang pangkaisipan, at pag-iwas sa pinsala at karahasan. Pinangunahan ang mga talakayan ng mga propesyonal sa kalusugan mula sa ISDH–Narvacan.

Pinangunahan ni Dr. Mary Grace B. Asuncion, Medical Officer III at Chairperson ng Adolescent-Friendly Health Facility, ang mga talakayan hinggil sa kalusugan. Samantala, binigyang-diin ni Myrna A. Castillo, Nurse I at Adolescent-Friendly Health Facility Focal Person, ang kahalagahan ng programa at ang pangangailangang maabot ang mga kabataan sa pamamagitan ng napapanahon at wastong impormasyon tungkol sa kalusugan.

Isa sa mga pangunahing tampok ng programa ang paglagda sa Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) sa pagitan ng ISDH–Narvacan at NNCHS. Layunin nitong higit pang palakasin ang kanilang pagtutulungan sa pagtataguyod ng mga serbisyong pangkalusugan na angkop at madaling maabot ng mga kabataan.

Sa pamamagitan ng MOA at isinagawang symposium, muling pinagtibay ng ISDH–Narvacan at NNCHS ang kanilang magkatuwang na paninindigan na mabigyan ang mga kabataan ng sapat na kaalaman, wastong paggabay, at pagkakaroon ng pagkakataong makagamit ng mga serbisyong pangkalusugan upang maisulong ang isang mas malusog, ligtas, at maalagang komunidad ng paaralan.

Mahigit 60 kinatawan ng bawat klase ang dumalo at aktibong nakibahagi sa nasabing symposium.

Handog na lapel ng DepEd ikinatuwa ng mga g**o sa NNCHS

May kagalakang tinanggap ng mga g**o ng Narvacan National Central High School (NNCHS) ang mahigit 130 na lapel microphone mula sa Department of Education (DepEd) Philippines, sa pamamagitan ng Schools Division Office (SDO) Ilocos Sur, Agosto 12, bilang bahagi ng pamamahagi ng mga kagamitang panturo sa buong dibisyon.

Ang mga lapel microphone ay inihatid sa paaralan ng pangkat ng SDO Ilocos Sur sa pangunguna ni Dr. Winifredo P. Pe Benito at pormal na tinanggap ni Dr. Christian A. Giron, School Principal IV, kasama ang mga Ulong G**o ng ibat't ibang departamento ng paaralan.

Ang paghahatid na ito ay bahagi ng inisyatiba ng DepEd na mabigyan ang mga g**o sa mga pampublikong paaralan ng angkop na kagamitan at mga kasangkapang maaaring makatulong sa pagtuturo sa silid-aralan at mapahusay ang prosesong pampagtuturo at pampagkatuto.

Para sa NNCHS, may kabuuang 137 lapel microphone ang inilaan at inihatid sa paaralan.

Ang bilang ng mga kagamitang ipinamahagi ay ibinatay sa naiulat na bilang ng mga g**o na nakatala sa datos ng mga kawani para sa ikalawa at ikatlong quarter ng nagdaang taon.

Inaasahang magiging kapaki-pakinabang sa mga g**o ng NNCHS ang mga bagong lapel microphone sa paghahatid ng mga aralin, pagpapadaloy ng mga talakayan sa silid-aralan, pagsasagawa ng mga presentasyon, at pagsasakatuparan ng iba’t ibang gawaing pampaaralan kung saan mahalaga ang malinaw at mabisang komunikasyon.

Karagdag nito ang layuning magsisilbi ang mga kagamitang ito bilang tulong sa pagtuturo habang patuloy na nagbibigay ang mga g**o ng makabuluhang karanasan sa pagkatuto para sa mga mag-aaral.

Samantala, nagpahayag si Dr. Giron ng taos-pusong pasasalamat sa DepEd Philippines at SDO Ilocos Sur para sa suportang ipinagkaloob sa paaralan at sa mga g**o nito.

Binigyang-diin niya na ang pagkakaloob ng mga kagamitang panturo ay malaking tulong sa pagpapatibay ng paghahatid ng de-kalidad na edukasyon.

"Taos-pusong pasasalamat sa SDO Ilocos Sur para sa kanilang patuloy na pagsisikap na mabigyan ang mga paaralan ng mga kagamitang tumutugon sa mga pangangailangan ng mga g**o at mag-aaral", dagdag pa niya.

Ipinapaabot din ng komunidad ng NNCHS ang pasasalamat nito sa DepEd Philippines at SDO Ilocos Sur para sa makabuluhang suportang ito.
