Preparedness. It has become the focus as the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) educated Javierians, faculty and staff about disasters during a seminar held at Saint Ezekiel Moreno (SEM) Hall, on July 27, 2026.

Opening the program was a prayer led by Mara Ilyssa Cachila. Ms. Irish P. Bernas, the academic coordinator then introduced the guest speakers from the BFP.

During the seminar, Fire Officer 1 Erwin Oncepido, Fire Officer 2 Edrail Abdo, and Fire Officer 3 Jasper A. Cruz discussed fire safety, earthquake preparedness, and the proper actions students should take during disasters.

As part of the orientation, students learned the Duck, Cover, and Hold technique. They were told to protect their heads and necks using sturdy objects, remain in position for one minute, and proceed to the evacuation area while continuing to cover their heads.

FO3 Cruz also reminded the students to remain calm during emergencies. In cases of fires, they were told to take deep breaths to stay focused, move toward the nearest secondary exit, and stay low to avoid inhaling chemicals and smoke.

Additionally, FO3 Cruz emphasized the importance of accountability after an evacuation. Students should do a headcount, so that teachers and staff would report the missing students to the chief operations team to ensure everyone is safe.

Meanwhile, BFP officers assisted the SFJC Emergency Response Team (ERT) to carry out their scenario training, to prepare them to provide support in case of real emergencies.

Following the discussion, the seminar concluded with a fire and earthquake drill that allowed students to apply the lessons they had learned.

Every school day at San Francisco Javier College (SFJC) begins and ends with a solemn traditionโ€”the respectful hoisting and lowering of the Philippine flag. While the ceremony lasts only a few minutes, it reflects the unwavering commitment of Javierian Boy Scouts who faithfully perform this responsibility with honor, discipline, and pride.

Since October 2024, the SFJC Boy Scouts of the Philippines have consistently led the school's flag ceremonies, beginning with their participation in a scouting camping activity at Sandoval National High School. From that experience onward, the responsibility of raising and lowering the national flag became a meaningful tradition entrusted to the scouts, symbolizing their dedication to service and love for the country.

Among the scouts who faithfully carried out this duty were Meljun Capindian and Mark Daniel Handang. Their consistent presence during the daily flag ceremonies became a testament to the Scout values of responsibility, discipline, and commitment. Through their quiet yet steadfast service, they reminded the Javierian community that patriotism is expressed not only in words but also through faithful actions performed every single day.

This School Year 2026โ€“2027, the arrival of newly enrolled Senior High School students has strengthened the ranks of the SFJC Boy Scouts with the addition of Eagle Scouts. Their presence has further reinforced the Boy Scouts of the Philippines' commitment to fostering patriotism, discipline, and servant leadership within the Javierian community. Among these Eagle Scouts are Cheve Magada and Blessie Lirazan, who now take part in the solemn responsibility of conducting the daily flag hoisting and lowering ceremonies. Joining them in this year's dedicated team are Miguel Ducejo and Mr. Cortel, whose commitment to this daily responsibility further reflects the Boy Scouts' enduring tradition of service, leadership, and love for the country.

More than a ceremonial responsibility, the daily flag ceremony serves as a reminder of every Filipino's duty to honor the nation's history, respect its heroes, and uphold the values represented by the Philippine flag. Through this simple yet meaningful act, the Javierian Boy Scouts continue to inspire their fellow students to cultivate patriotism, respect, and civic responsibility in their everyday lives.

Guided by their Scout Master, Mr. Michael Bryan Biong, the SFJC Boy Scouts continue to embody the ideals of the Scout Oath and Scout Law through humble service and exemplary leadership. Their steadfast dedication demonstrates that true leadership is found not only in grand achievements but also in the quiet commitment to serve with integrity and consistency.

As the Philippine flag rises with the morning sun and is respectfully lowered at the close of each school day, the Javierian Boy Scouts stand as silent guardians of a tradition that nurtures national pride. Their continued service reminds the entire SFJC community that patriotism is not merely celebrated on special occasionsโ€”it is practiced every day through discipline, responsibility, and unwavering love for God, country, and community.

Their confidence, creativity, and lively personalities lit up the stage, making the activity one of the highlights of the morning.

To recognize students who stood out throughout the program, special awards were presented. The awardees were Zeke Uriah V. Ynzon as Mr. Enchanted Garden, Quennie Jene B. Wu as Ms. Enchanted Garden, Yoav Gabriel V. Ynzon as Mr. Enchanted Glow, Rianne G. Anticano as Ms. Enchanted Glow, Princess Deira G. Nicolas as Most Radiant Bloom, Saldy Daved P. Chand as Most Elegant Bloom, Adam Cayanan as Mr. Blossom of the Crowd, and Isabella Raphaelle P. Rivas as Ms. Blossom of the Crowd.

Meanwhile, the Junior High School and Senior High School Departments continued the celebration at 1:30 p.m., also at the SEM Hall. Students proudly walked the stage in outfits that reflected the magical garden theme, turning the venue into a vibrant display of imagination and self-expression.

Before the main program, each grade level gathered in their respective classrooms for a mini acquaintance party. Students introduced themselves, shared food, exchanged stories, and spent time getting to know one another. The simple gathering helped break the ice and created a warm, welcoming atmosphere before everyone proceeded to the St. Ezekiel Moreno Hall (SEM Hall) for the day's festivities.

Hosted by Ms. Mary Joy L. Barrion and Ms. Mary Rose B. Magbanua, the afternoon program featured performances from each grade level, including energetic dances, heartfelt songs, and entertaining presentations. Moreover, these performances showcased not only the students' talents but also the teamwork and enthusiasm that made the celebration even more memorable.
Students were also recognized for their confidence and outstanding participation throughout the event.

For the Junior High School Department, Zhian Wu received the Oak of the Crowd award, Rubie S. Cordova was named Blossom of the Crowd, Prince Harley L. Italia received the Most Elegant Bloom award, and Samantha Rivas was recognized as Most Radiant Bloom. In the Senior High School Department, Blessie C. Lirazan earned the title Most Radiant Bloom, while Eros Ysrael Arga received Most Elegant Bloom.

The major awards for the Junior High School and Senior High School Departments were also presented to students who truly embodied the spirit of the celebration. Joel Isandro D. Olarte and Cristal G. Ripalda were crowned Mr. and Ms. Enchanted Garden, while Cheve Magada and Rheamee Nicolas were named Mr. Enchanted Charm and Ms. Enchanted Glow.

The celebration concluded with a closing prayer, marking the end of a day filled with fun, laughter, and meaningful moments. More than the colorful outfits and performances, the Acquaintance Party allowed students to build new friendships, strengthen existing ones, and begin the school year with a stronger sense of unity and belonging.

Beginning July 6, 2026, the Philippine National Anthem, Lupang Hinirang, has been performed live by the student musicians of San Francisco Javier Collegeโ€“AR of Narra, Palawan, Inc. to officially begin each school day.

As students hear the familiar melody of Lupang Hinirang, they pause, stand at attention, and sing the national anthem to show respect and honor for the Philippine flag. This daily live performance has created an atmosphere of solemnity and patriotism, reminding the entire school community of the importance of honoring the nation and embracing the values of unity and respect.

Leading the live accompaniment are around 15 members of the SFJC Drum and Lyre Corps, composed of dedicated Javierian student instrumentalists under the guidance of Mr. Rollie Lamprea. The student instrumentalists expressed their gratitude for being entrusted with the responsibility of leading the live accompaniment of Lupang Hinirang during the school's daily flag ceremony. Their performance is more than simply playing musicโ€”it is a meaningful expression of service, discipline, and love for the country, helping set a respectful tone for the day while inspiring fellow Javierians to appreciate the significance of the national anthem.

"We are very honored to stand here and play our National Anthem and show respect for our nation," shared one of the student musicians.

Another Javierian remarked, "The performance creates a positive atmosphere on campus, making us feel more connected as one school community while also strengthening our love for the Philippines."

The daily live rendition of Lupang Hinirang has become more than just the opening of each school day. Through the dedication of the SFJC Drum and Lyre Corps, the performance continues to inspire patriotism, unity, discipline, and school pride among every Javierian.
