๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ฝ๐๐๐๐?
The Pax Silica Initiative promises jobs, money, and stronger industries. Supporters say silica will help build our future. And it sounds good on paper.
But what happens off paper?
If we dig too much and too fast, our forests will fall. Our rivers will get dirty. Our soil will wash away. And the ones who will suffer first are not in boardrooms. They are the farmers, the fisherfolk, and the indigenous communities who depend on the land and the sea every single day.
The damage will not disappear after one election. It will stay for years. Maybe forever.
We also cannot ignore the question of trust. Many Filipinos have seen projects where only a few get rich, while nearby communities are left with pollution and problems. Without honest talks, without strong rules, and without listening to the people who will be affected, this initiative will only create more anger than opportunity.
We need development, yes. But not development that destroys.
A country is not measured by how much it takes from nature, but by how well it protects it.
The government must act now. Do real environmental studies. Enforce the law without fear. And most of all, let the people speak. Let them decide what happens to their homes.
Because true progress is not about how much we earn today.
It is about what we leave for our children tomorrow: clean water, healthy land, and a future they can actually live in.
If we fail that test, then this is not progress at all.
