𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | Cebu Technological University–Naga Extension Campus (CTU–Naga) welcomed a delegation of Japanese local government officials, academic leaders, media representatives, and industry partners for a guided campus tour yesterday, July 22, 2026.

Organized by the City Government of Naga under the leadership of Mayor Hon. Valdemar M. Chiong, the visit aimed to strengthen international educational collaboration, foster cultural exchange, and expand global learning and career opportunities for students and educators.

The delegation comprised representatives from Nakama City, Kamiamakusa City, Mashiki Town, Sojo University, Kumamoto Television, and JP-HOLDINGS, INC. The group included city mayors, education superintendents and directors, university officials, media executives, corporate leaders, translators, and business development representatives—reflecting a shared commitment to advancing education and international cooperation.

OIC-Campus Director Atty. Marvey A. Ocampo warmly received the guests and led the campus tour, showcasing CTU–Naga's academic programs, facilities, and student-centered learning environment. The visit also served as a continuation of the exploratory discussions initiated in February 2026, reinforcing both parties' commitment to building future academic partnerships and exchange opportunities.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this initiative advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) through international educational exchange, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by opening pathways for global career opportunities, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening collaboration between local and international institutions.

𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 | CTU–Naga Faculty Transform Expertise into Instructional Materials

Behind every meaningful lesson is an educator committed to creating learning resources that inspire understanding. At Cebu Technological University–Naga Extension Campus, this commitment has taken shape through ten faculty members who successfully published their instructional materials through Dreamer Publishing Services in 2026.

Submitted in December 2025 and accepted for publication in January 2026, these materials reflect the faculty’s dedication to developing quality educational resources that enrich classroom instruction and enhance student learning.

The faculty authors are Dr. Roselyn T. Bustos, Dr. Maria Domnena I. Anog, Cathlene Grace G. Trinidad, Hyres Rica F. Dela Cruz, Dr. Ofelia A. Labrado, Dr. Glenn A. Trinidad, Dr. Abrahem P. Anqui, Francis Val A. Gamboa, Dr. Meriam E. Cabatingan, and Joefrey Cortes.

More than just academic publications, these instructional materials embody the faculty’s commitment to transforming classroom expertise into meaningful learning tools. This milestone reinforces CTU–Naga Extension Campus’ pursuit of academic excellence, innovation, and learner-centered education, while strengthening its mission of delivering quality instruction.

The milestone was further commemorated through a courtesy call at the Campus Director’s Office, signifying the University’s recognition of the faculty authors’ contributions to the continuous advancement of quality education.

Aligned with this commitment, the achievement also advances Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, by promoting the development of accessible, relevant, and high-quality instructional resources that foster effective teaching and lifelong learning.

𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 | Cebu Technological University–Naga Extension Campus wrapped up its three-day Capacity Building on Research Publication and Strategic Planning on July 10, 2026, at the Diane Residences with a closing ceremony recognizing the active participation of faculty members and student leaders from the Supreme Student Government (SSG), Future Science and Technology Leaders of the Philippines (FSTLP), and the NagaUkit Student Editorial Board (NUSEB).

The ceremony featured the awarding of Certificates of Participation to faculty members and student leaders in recognition of their active engagement throughout the seminar, which covered research publication, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and research proposal writing. The activity also acknowledged the valuable contributions of the organizers, resource speakers, and participants to the successful conduct of the three-day capacity-building initiative.

During the Closing Remarks, Dr. Roselyn T. Bustos encouraged participants to translate the knowledge and skills gained from the seminar into meaningful initiatives that will further strengthen research, leadership, and institutional excellence.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The afternoon session of the third day of the Capacity Building on Research Publication and Strategic Planning shifted its focus to strengthening research competencies through Workshop 3: Research Proposal Writing and Bibliometrics, held on July 10, 2026, at the Diane Residence.

Facilitated by Dr. Robert Jay Angco, the workshop provided participants with practical strategies in research proposal development and bibliometric analysis to enhance the quality and impact of scholarly publications.

To recognize his invaluable contribution, the University presented Dr. Robert Jay Angco with a Plaque of Appreciation at the conclusion of the workshop.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | Cebu Technological University–Naga Extension Campus officially commenced the third and final day of its Capacity Building on Research Publication and Strategic Planning with a Stakeholders’ Engagement Forum on July 10, 2026, at the Diane Residences.

The morning session gathered representatives from various partner institutions to discuss curriculum relevance, graduate competencies, and the University’s Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives (VMGO). Among the invited stakeholders were Dr. Anna Liza T. Mapula, Curriculum Supervisor from the DepEd City of Naga Division; Ms. Beverly Jane G. Siarot, Human Resources Representative of Taiheiyo Cement Phils., Inc.; and Mr. Romeo B. Empleo Jr., Information Technology Department representative from the Local Government Unit of the City of Naga.

The forum also welcomed alumni representatives, namely Mr. Argie B. Sotto, Ms. Mariel B. Umbay of the College of Education, and Ms. Shien Karla Bartolabac of the College of Technology, who shared valuable insights and recommendations to further strengthen the University’s academic programs and ensure their responsiveness to industry and community needs.

The program concluded with the formal introduction of the resource speakers and the presentation of Plaques of Appreciation to recognize the invaluable support and contributions of the University’s stakeholders. Ms. Mariel B. Umbay, who placed Top 7 in the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LET), was likewise recognized and awarded ₱80,000 in cash incentives for her remarkable achievement.

Through meaningful collaboration and stakeholder engagement, the activity reaffirmed CTU–Naga Extension Campus’ commitment to fostering quality education and strengthening partnerships that contribute to institutional excellence.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | On July 9, 2026, the second day of the Capacity Building on Research Publication and Strategic Planning held at the Diane Residences, CTU–Naga Extension Campus welcomed Dr. Hedeliza A. Pineda as the Resource Speaker for the AACCUP Accreditation Readiness Seminar.

Dr. Pineda shared valuable insights on AACCUP standards, quality assurance, and best practices, equipping faculty and staff with practical strategies to strengthen the campus’ accreditation preparedness and institutional development.

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐎𝐖 | Cebu Technological University – Naga Extension Campus continues its commitment to institutional excellence on Day 2 of the “Capacity Building on Research Publication and Strategic Planning with Gender and Development (GAD) Integration” at the Diane Residences, Cebu City, Philippines.

The day commenced with an opening prayer and a reflective recap of the previous day's accomplishments. The morning session shifted focus toward quality assurance with an "AACCUP Accreditation Readiness Seminar," centered on understanding standards, expectations, and best practices. Campus Director Atty. Marvey A. Ocampo introduced the resource speaker, Dr. Hedeliza A. Pineda, who provided essential guidance to prepare the institution for upcoming accreditation evaluations. The program continues this afternoon with a dedicated workshop on "Finalizing the Program Performance Profile (PPP)," specifically addressing the status of recommendations from the previous visit. Following this, participants will proceed to the "Presentation of the PPP for the Upcoming AACCUP Visit".

These efforts directly support SDG 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring the university maintains high academic standards, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, and meets the rigorous requirements necessary to provide students with a globally recognized, high-quality education.

Strategic planning took center stage as Cebu Technological University – Naga Extension Campus launched its "Capacity Building on Research Publication and Strategic Planning with Gender and Development (GAD) Integration" at Diane Residences, Cebu City. Anchored on the theme "Enhancing Institutional Excellence through Research Productivity, Strategic Direction, and Gender Integration," the program aims to bolster the university’s research culture while ensuring that academic and administrative growth remains inclusive and forward-looking.

The event kicked off this morning with an opening program, during which Campus Director Atty. Marvey A. Ocampo underscored the resonance of the theme. She noted that genuine institutional excellence is achieved when research output is paired with clear strategic foresight and a firm commitment to gender equality. The morning session then shifted to a keynote address by Dr. Maria Domnena J. Anog, Chairperson of Research and Development, who offered expert insights into navigating the intricacies of high-impact research publication. She likewise emphasized the critical need to align institutional strategies with gender-inclusive frameworks. Following the talks, participants actively engaged in hands-on workshops, refining their research agendas and weaving GAD-related indicators into their departmental development goals to craft a balanced and progressive roadmap for the coming years. As the afternoon unfolds, the activity transitions to the presentation of the Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMP) for 2027. This session highlights the alignment of departmental requirements with the institution’s broader strategic vision, ensuring that procurement processes for the upcoming year are transparent, gender-responsive, and directly supportive of the university's mission.

By mainstreaming gender-responsive practices in both procurement and administration, the event reinforces CTU-Naga’s steadfast commitment to SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). More importantly, it empowers faculty and staff to contribute meaningfully to institutional growth—through scholarly productivity, strategic direction, and effective resource management.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducted a Fire Safety Orientation for the faculty and staff of Cebu Technological University – Naga Extension Campus on June 25, 2026, to strengthen campus preparedness and promote a fire-safe academic environment.

The activity enhanced participants’ knowledge of fire prevention and emergency response through discussions on the causes and classifications of fire, extinguishment methods, common fire hazards, and the proper use of fire extinguishers using the TPASS (Trigger, Point, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) method.

Leading the orientation were BFP FO3 Vincent Angelo O. Pleños, Chief of the Community Relations Unit, and FO2 Jestoni L. Abatayo, Chief of the Commel Unit.

As part of the initiative, the campus formally established its School Emergency Response Team (SERT) Structure for Academic Year 2025–2026 to ensure effective coordination during emergencies. Prepared by Dr. Glenn A. Trinidad and approved by OIC-Campus Director Atty. Marvey A. Ocampo, the structure designates personnel across Fire Fighting, Security, Medical, Search and Rescue, Evacuation, and Communication teams.

This proactive undertaking reinforces institutional readiness and resilience while supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by promoting a safe and secure learning environment. | via Venisse C.
