Today, as the country commemorates the declaration of Martial Law, we’re reminded not only of past abuses, but also of the continuing fight against corruption, most glaring now in the billions stolen through ‘ghost’ flood control projects that leave communities stranded and infrastructure crumbling.

As students in the IT field, we’re not exempted: the same systemic corruption behind these scandals weakens government IT, leaving our systems outdated while funds meant for modernization vanish.

Whether working in startups, joining hackathons, or freelancing and dealing with heavy taxes, all our efforts are impacted by choices made far above us.

But history teaches us that resistance and innovation start in communities like ours.

Let’s stay vigilant, call out abuses and corruption, and strive for transparency—we have the skills and the voice to help build the future we deserve.
