BISCAST declares a 3-day Academic Interlude from May 20 to May 22, 2026.
This period is intended to provide students and faculty members time for rest and academic preparation for the upcoming final examinations. Regular classes, academic activities, and all student transactions are suspended during this period.
Non-Teaching Personnel shall follow their designated work arrangements for the rest of the week, as coordinated by their respective offices.
We encourage everyone to use this time for academic preparation and to extend care and understanding to one another.
Regular academic operations will resume on May 25, 2026. Please await further announcements from your respective College Deans regarding the updated schedule of the Final Examinations.
For urgent concerns, the Center for Guidance and Mental Health Services and the Non-Teaching Personnel remain available.
Let us continue to look after one another as one Astean community.

Through the collaboration between the Metals and Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC) of Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) and the Philippine Science High School โ Goa Campus, a successful 3-day Training Workshop on MEIC Machine and Equipment was conducted last May 6โ8, 2026 at the MEIC Facility, BISCAST.
The workshop was facilitated by the BISCAST MEIC Team led by Engr. Joselito A. Ruadil, MEIC Focal Person, together with Engr. Augusto A. Avancena, Engr. Michael S. Barcacena, Engr. Lyncel S. Celimen, faculty researchers, Engr. Mark Allen O. Estipona, and Engr. Mary Therese T. Basco- MEIC staff.
Participants included instructors from the Philippine Science High School โ Goa Campus, BISCAST ManFabLab Staff, and selected BISCAST BSME and BSEE students who actively participated in the hands-on training sessions on the operation and application of MEIC machines and equipment.
On the first day, participants attended lectures and live demonstrations on machine operation, fabrication processes, and safety procedures. During the second and third day, participants designed and fabricated their own toolboxes using the MEIC machines and equipment, allowing them to apply their newly acquired skills through actual fabrication activities.
The workshop formally opened with remarks from Engr. Dominic P. Bolima and concluded with inspiring closing remarks from Dr. Charlie P. Nacario, SUC President II.
The organizers also extend their sincere gratitude to the Department of Science and Technology โ Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) and the Department of Science and Technology โ Provincial Science and Technology Office Camarines Sur (DOST-PSTO Cam Sur) for their continued support in promoting innovation, technical skills development, and technology-driven learning initiatives.
This initiative reflects the shared commitment of BISCAST MEIC and PSHS โ Goa Campus in strengthening technical competencies and advancing engineering and technology education through collaborative and industry-relevant training opportunities.
