To formally wrap up the historic and vibrant Peñafrancia 2026 festivities, the Naga City Government declared September 21, 2026, as a Post-Peñafrancia Rest and Recovery Day pursuant to Executive Order No. 44, series of 2026, suspending basic education classes across the city.

In solidarity with the local government, Naga College Foundation, Inc. (NCF)—through OOP Memorandum Order No. 56, series of 2026—has extended the suspension to cover all office operations and classes in all modalities in Higher Education to give the entire NCF community a well-deserved break after weeks of solemn celebration.

This momentary breather offers the Pilgrimage City of Naga time to rest, recharge, and reflect on the spiritual blessings bestowed by Inâ and El Divino Rostro.

Classes and office operations at all levels and modalities across all NCF campuses will resume tomorrow, September 22, 2026.

Five Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) student researchers—John Paul Cambiado, Joshua Rovic Sanota, Rey Lawrence Nodado, Phoebe Marie Viñas, and Francine De La Torre—pitch CoopGuard at the Department of Agriculture (DA) Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Season 6, a program empowering the younger generation to enhance and support the agribusiness sector.

Under the guidance of project adviser Engr. John Roy Galvez, CCPE, CRS, the team engineered the project, titled "CoopGuard: Multi-Modal IoT Sensor Mesh and Predictive Edge-AI Android Dashboard Engine for Precision Poultry Welfare." The system addresses critical agricultural challenges by combining Internet of Things (IoT) hardware with machine learning to automate farm monitoring.

CoopGuard utilizes a network of multi-modal IoT nodes installed throughout poultry facilities to continuously collect environmental data and bioacoustic recordings. Using Edge AI, the system processes these audio and environmental inputs locally in real time. This allows it to identify subtle avian distress calls, early respiratory abnormalities, and hazardous environmental changes before physical symptoms become visible to farmers.

By participating in YFC Season 6, these CCS student researchers showcase how computer science and digital technology can address real-world agricultural issues and shape the future of smart farming.
