February of every year is declared as National Arts Month under Presidential Proclamation 683 to celebrate artistic excellence and pay tribute to the uniqueness and diversity of the Filipino heritage and culture. The events and activities that take place during this month are geared toward showcasing the artistic talent of Filipinos, as well as providing avenues for artists to channel their creative energies.
This year, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), as the spearheading agency for the annual celebration, shifts the focus of the festivities to the theme: "Ani ng Sining, Bunga ng Galing." Likewise, the DepEd Naga City, through the Division Memorandum no. 14. s. 2023, mandates its local theme: “Magbangon asin Maglayog Ka Artistang Bikolnon; Sa Tahaw kan Agyat asin Huma, Kultura Padanayon." Both themes aim to immerse Filipinos in diverse cultural expressions and celebrate the bountiful harvest from the Filipino imagination. It also gives recognition to Filipinos unique talents in the field of creative expression, as well as the arts ability to give strength and wellness, and bring hope to facing the challenges of modern times.
Celebrate with the CSNHS-SPArtans this Arts Month! Halina’t Maki-Sining!

Halina't Maki-Sining!
With this year’s theme “ANI NG SINING, BUNGA NG GALING,” the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) leads the celebration of National Arts Month (NAM) this February and March with various exciting face-to-face and online activities. Said theme aims to immerse Filipinos in diverse cultural expressions and celebrate the bountiful harvest from the Filipino imagination.
The theme “galing” refers to excellence in the arts as both a source of bounty despite challenging times, and a product of the passion of Filipino artists and cultural workers. In celebrating National Arts Month in 2023, “galing” alludes to artistic excellence as well as underscoring the capacity of the arts to heal, rebuild, and restore in a post-pandemic setting.
Promulgated by then President Corazon Aquino in 1991, Presidential Proclamation No. 683 declared February of every year as National Arts. Month to celebrate the artistic excellence and pay tribute to the uniqueness and diversity of the Filipino heritage and culture.
