🍄 A JOSEPHIAN INSPIRING A GENERATION 🍄

We proudly honor Mr. Lyndon Co Say Tan, SJS Batch 1982, a Josephian whose vision and entrepreneurial spirit have contributed to the development of the Philippine enoki mushroom industry.

Through Basic Necessity, Inc. (SaladTime), a 100% Filipino-owned investment in Silang, Cavite, Mr. Tan pioneered an innovative, industrial-scale enoki mushroom project that promotes food security, health, sustainable farming, and high-value agriculture. His "Philippine Enoki Mushroom: From Waste to Health" project is now fully operational, using automated technology to transform agricultural waste such as corn cobs, rice hulls, and coconut peat into nutritious food while creating opportunities for Filipino farmers and workers.

His pioneering work has earned national recognition. The project was cited by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) as an example of Filipino innovation in agriculture. It was also featured by Bilyonaryo News Channel on July 30, 2026, highlighting its impact on the country's agricultural and food sectors. Mr. Tan attributes much of his success to his mother, who instilled in him sound business judgment, integrity, love for country, and the responsibility to give back to society.

His story reminds our young Josephians that true success is not measured only by what we achieve, but by the good we create and the lives we touch.

May his journey inspire the next generation to dream boldly, lead with integrity, love and serve our country, and always give back.

The Saint Joseph School Community had the privilege to welcome representatives from the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 (𝐏𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐂) (菲律宾华教中心), led by Mr. Liu Tong Hou (刘统厚), Vice Chairperson and Director of the Teacher Development Department, together with Mr. Yang Fan (杨凡), Deputy Secretary-General of the Sichuan Overseas Friendship Association, and distinguished educators from the 𝐒𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 (四川 巡讲团名师).

The visit last July 27, 2026, organized as part of the PCERC’s educational initiatives in the Philippines, provided a valuable opportunity for professional dialogue, the exchange of best practices in Mandarin instruction, and the sharing of insights to further strengthen Chinese Language Education. The delegation also toured the SJS campus, fostering deeper educational collaboration and cultural exchange.

Saint Joseph School is deeply grateful for this meaningful visit and looks forward to strengthening partnerships that will continue to enrich Mandarin education and the cultural exchange in our school community.
