Davao de Oro Division Conducts ProbSET Training to Strengthen Math Excellence

Compostela, Davao de Oro | December 10–12, 2025 — The Davao de Oro Division is presently conducting the ProbSET (Problem Solving Enhancement Training) in partnership with Ateneo de Manila University, gathering mathematics enthusiast learners from schools across the division at Compostela National High School.

The three-day training aimed to sharpen learners’ higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills through exposure to challenging mathematical problems aligned with national and international competition standards. Expert trainers from the university guided the participants through advanced strategies in logic, algebra, geometry, and real-world mathematical applications.

The activity sought not only to prepare students for national and international mathematics competitions, but also to strengthen their ability to apply mathematical thinking in real-life situations such as decision-making, critical analysis, and problem-solving in everyday contexts.

Education leaders highlighted that the training reflects the division’s continuing commitment to nurturing academically talented learners and building a strong culture of excellence in Mathematics. The collaboration with higher education institutions and dedicated trainers further strengthened the quality and impact of the program.

The ProbSET training marks another milestone in the division’s efforts to develop future thinkers, innovators, and problem solvers through quality mathematics education.

Out of more than 80 solo rondalla aspirants from across the Philippines who auditioned for the NAMCYA 2025 competition, the field was rigorously narrowed down to the Top 15, and later to the 6 National Finalists. Renniel Reyn L. Raga of Letran de Davao, representing the Schools Division of Davao de Oro, Davao Region, distinguished himself among the country’s finest young musicians, ultimately securing an impressive Third Place finish.

Division of Davao de Oro Holds Grand Teachers’ Summit and World Teachers’ Day Celebration

Nabunturan, Davao de Oro — The Division of Davao de Oro successfully held the Teachers’ Summit cm Celebration of the World Teachers’ Day at Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School on October 3 and 4, 2025, gathering more than 10,000 DepEd teaching and non-teaching personnel from across the province.

The two-day event was a grand tribute to the dedication and hard work of educators, with District 1 holding its celebration on October 3, and District 2 on October 4.

Adding prestige and significance to the occasion was the presence of prominent leaders and guests, including Congressman Leonel Ceniza and Congresswoman Maricar Zamora-Mabanglo, who joined the respective district celebrations. The “Makamasa” Governor Raul Mabanglo, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Mayors, Vice Mayors, and other local officials also graced the event, expressing their deep appreciation for the vital role teachers play in nation-building.

DepEd Region XI officials Regional Director Allan Farnazo and Assistant Regional Director Rebonfamil Baguio likewise attended the celebration, inspiring the teachers with their heartfelt messages of support and recognition.

Adding excitement and joy to the occasion, teachers enthusiastically interacted with guest celebrities including Michael Angelo Lobrin, Wacky Kiray, and Chito Samontina, whose performances and motivational talks filled the venue with laughter and inspiration.

Division Superintendent Phoebe Gay Refamonte and Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Emma Camporedondo led the successful conduct of the event, ensuring that teachers truly felt honored and valued. Intensified Monitoring Ensures Quality in the Pilot Implementation of Strengthened Senior High School

New Leyte, Maco, Davao de Oro - September 17, 2025: To guarantee the success of the pilot implementation of the Strengthened Senior High School (SHS) in the Division of Davao de Oro, the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) Team conducted intense monitoring and evaluation to New Leyte National High School offering the program.

The activity, led by the CID under the leadership of Chief Dr. Arlyn B. Lim and actively participated in by the Education Program Supervisors (EPS), focused on ensuring that the articulated implementation guidelines are properly followed.

Notably, it was observed that learners demonstrated a strong grasp of concepts in Agriculture, confidently and articulately responding when asked about their research work and other curriculum-related concerns. This reflects not only the effectiveness of the program but also the learners’ commitment to their chosen track.

Special appreciation is extended to School Head Mr. Roel Ellaga, whose leadership and support have been instrumental in sustaining the program’s success and creating an enabling environment for learners and teachers alike.

DepEd Davao de Oro Distributes 350 Tablets to Learners in Difficult Circumstances

Tagbaros, Maco, Davao de Oro - September 17, 2025: The Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Davao de Oro, under the leadership of Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Phoebe Gay Refamonte, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent (ASDS) Emma Camporedondo, and Chief Education Supervisor Arlyn B. Lim, spearheaded the distribution and contract signing of tablets for learners under difficult circumstances.

A total of 350 tablets loaded with digital and interactive learning resources were distributed to learner-recipients, ensuring that they can continue their studies through the Alternative Delivery Modality (ADM).

Among the beneficiaries is Tagbaros Elementary School in Maco, which has been recommended for evacuation by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) due to its susceptibility to landslides. The provision of these devices guarantees that learners will still have access to education despite the risks and challenges they face.

The activity was actively supported by the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) Education Program Supervisors. Key contributions during the event included:

Ms. Mary Ann Laguitao, Division LR Supervisor, who led the uploading of digital learning resources into the devices.

Dr. Renato N. Pacpakin, ADM Supervisor, who facilitated the allocation of the tablets.

The event was overwhelmingly participated in by teachers, school officials, learners, parents, and community members, with the full support of the Barangay Council of Tagbaros, headed by the Barangay Captain. Their presence highlighted the strong collaboration between the school and the community in sustaining education.

This initiative reflects the unwavering commitment of DepEd Davao de Oro to ensure that no learner is left behind. By equipping students with digital devices and interactive resources, the division continues to uphold its mission of providing equitable access to quality education, even for those in vulnerable and high-risk areas.

Maparat Elementary School has once again proven its commitment to quality education as it sustained regular classes despite the conduct of the District Meet, where some learners participated as athletes and some teachers served as coaches.

During the school visit today by Education Program Supervisor, it was observed that teaching and learning continued smoothly, demonstrating the dedication of the school to maintain balance between academic responsibilities and extracurricular activities.

Davao de Oro – The Schools Division of Davao de Oro is preparing to launch Project ORO (Optimizing Reading Outcomes) this September 2025, a bold initiative aimed at ensuring every learner achieves grade-level proficiency in reading and mathematics by the end of School Year 2025–2026.

Anchored on DepEd’s ARAL (Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning) Program, Project ORO will focus on structured remediation sessions, home-based reading, numeracy drills, and targeted support for struggling learners identified through CRLA, Phil-IRI, and RMA assessments.

The initiative was crafted through the bright minds of the Schools Division Superintendent Phoebe Gay L. Refamonte, CESO VI, the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) Chief Dr. Arlyn B. Lim, and the ARAL Focals, who worked together to design a program that leaves no learner behind.
