As the ๐๐
๐๐ ๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐จ๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐๐๐๐ approaches, itโs time for our student presenters to transition from data analysis to presentation delivery!
To help you maximize your time on stage, please take note of the presentation essentials:
โฑ๏ธ 1. ๐ด๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ 15-๐ด๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐
Every presenter is allocated a strict Plan your delivery around this structure:
โณ ๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ฎ๐ญ๐๐ฌ โ ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐๐ก: Focus on the core of your study. Keep your introduction brief, walk the audience through your methodology, and spend the majority of your time highlighting your key results and conclusions.
A dedicated window for the panel of evaluators and the audience to ask questions and offer constructive feedback.
Don't let a long introduction steal your results time! Practice with a stopwatch to nail the 10-minute mark perfectly.
Avoid overwhelming paragraphs. Use high-resolution charts, clear tables, and concise bullet points to showcase your findings.
Stick to a clean aesthetic (like dark text on light backgrounds) so your text remains completely legible from the back of the presentation rooms.
Keep a copy of your presentation file on a reliable USB drive and accessible in your cloud storage.
When nervous, we tend to speed up. Take a deep breath, speak clearly, and pace yourself to ensure the audience can follow your scientific journey.
View the 5-minute Q&A as an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise and gain valuable insights to refine your research further!
You've done the heavy lifting in the field and the labโnow it's time to share your insights with the community. Happy practicing, student researchers!

Congratulations to Ms. Greta M. Noquilla and Dr. Allyn Duvin P. Hinoguin of Mindanao State University at Naawan for their recent publication in the
๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฌ, a Q4 Scopus-indexed journal.
Their study, titled โ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ฌ, ๐๐ฉ๐๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ญ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง๐ฌ, ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ก๐จ๐ฏ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ก ๐๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ (๐๐๐๐โ๐๐๐๐),โ provides the first national-scale synthesis of anchovy catch landings in the Philippines over two decades. The research examined long-term trends, spatial patterns, sectoral differences, and the relationship between anchovy catch landings and sea surface temperature (SST) variability using official fisheries statistics and satellite-derived environmental data.
The findings revealed a significant long-term decline in total anchovy catch landings, mainly driven by reductions in commercial fisheries, while municipal catches showed a weaker and non-significant downward trend. The study also found strong spatial differences across regions, with only a limited number of areas contributing disproportionately to national anchovy production. Results further showed a predominantly negative association between anchovy catch landings and SST, suggesting that periods of elevated sea surface temperature, particularly during the 2015โ2016 El Niรฑo event, coincided with reduced catch landings.
This research offers valuable baseline information for understanding the combined effects of sectoral dynamics, regional variability, and climate-related factors on anchovy fisheries in the Philippines. Its findings support the need to integrate environmental variability into climate-responsive and region-specific fisheries management strategies.
Once again, congratulations to Ms. Noquilla and Dr. Hinoguin for this meaningful contribution to fisheries science, climate-responsive fisheries research, and sustainable fisheries management in the Philippines!

The College of Fisheries and Marine Sciences of Mindanao State University at Naawan invites the public to attend the Master of Science Examination of Jerome J. Sabillo, MS Aquaculture candidate.
Mr. Sabillo will be defending his thesis titled, "Spatial Mapping, Feeding Ecology, and Transport Stress Evaluation of ๐๐ญ๐ฐ๐ด๐ด๐ฐ๐จ๐ฐ๐ฃ๐ช๐ถ๐ด ๐จ๐ช๐ถ๐ณ๐ช๐ด in Lake Mainit." This study provides an integrated evaluation of the white goby (๐๐ญ๐ฐ๐ด๐ด๐ฐ๐จ๐ฐ๐ฃ๐ช๐ถ๐ด ๐จ๐ช๐ถ๐ณ๐ช๐ด), locally known as ๐ฑ๐ช๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐จ๐ข, by examining its spatial harvesting patterns, feeding ecology across developmental stages, and physiological resilience during live transport. The findings highlight the species' role as a vital trophic bridge within the lake's food web and offer size-stratified live transport frameworks essential for future aquaculture distribution and management.
