𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐲 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐬

The Green Gold Project, a CHED-funded initiative implemented by MSUN Research on Environment and Nanotechnology Laboratories (REY Labs), continues to strengthen its industry partnerships through a series of courtesy visits and project presentations with major mining companies in Mindanao. These engagements aim to promote collaboration, research integration, and sustainability-driven initiatives between academia and industry.

On November 28, 2025, the project team conducted a courtesy visit and project presentation at 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗮 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, where they met with Mr. Jonnel A. De Torres, Vice President for Operations and General Manager. The team, led by Dr. Benjoe Rey B. Visayas, Project Support Staff, presented the project’s objectives and identified potential areas for collaboration. Discussions highlighted the importance of academic–industry partnerships in advancing sustainable mining practices and innovation-driven solutions.

Also in attendance were Mr. Bernard Louis D. Montemor, Science Research Specialist I; Ms. Chancy Louisse T. Barlisan, RCh, Science Research Specialist I; Mr. Jared Deve P. Delicana, MSc., Science Research Specialist I; Ms. Mae Amor C. Palma, Science Research Assistant; and Mr. Klent B. Capangpangan, Project Development Officer I.

Building on this engagement, the project team conducted a similar courtesy visit and presentation on December 11, 2025, at 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in Surigao del Norte. The meeting reinforced the project’s commitment to promoting responsible mining practices. Representatives from Greenstone expressed their support for the initiative and recognized the value of academic–industry collaboration, particularly in the areas of environmental monitoring, technological innovation, and community-based projects.

These industry engagements reflect the Green Gold Project’s broader goal of fostering strong partnerships that support research, sustainability, and education in the mining sector. The series of visits is expected to pave the way for joint programs, training opportunities, and collaborative research initiatives that will benefit the implementing institution, partner industries, and surrounding communities.

Marking another significant step in the university’s commitment to institutional excellence and quality service delivery, Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN) underwent the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 external audit conducted by TÜV SÜD PSB Philippines, Inc., on December 2–5, 2025.
