π£ ANNOUNCEMENT: APPLICATION β ELECTION COMMISSION (ELECOM)
The San Beda College Alabang School of Law β Election Commission (ELECOM) is now accepting applications for new members!
Join the body that safeguards the integrity, fairness, and transparency of all Student Council elections and related electoral exercises.
βοΈ About the Election Commission
As provided under Article VII (A) of the San Beda College Alabang School of Law Constitution, the Election Commission is the independent body responsible for the conduct of initiatives, petitions, plebiscites, and recall elections within the School of Law.
π₯ Composition: The Election Commission (ELECOM) shall be composed of one (1) Chairperson and six (6) Commissioners.
πDuties and Responsibilities
In accordance with Article VII (A), San Beda College Alabang School of Law Constitution, the Election Commission shall exercise the following duties and responsibilities:
1. Promulgate and implement rules regarding the conduct of elections, including the place and manner of the same, the accreditation of parties and/or candidates, and any other matter directly related to the elections.
2. Promulgate and enforce rules and regulations relative to the conduct of initiatives, petitions, plebiscites, and recall elections.
3. Promulgate and enforce rules and regulations relating to the conduct of Judicial Appointments, including filing, nominations, and screening.
4. Appoint deputies as may be necessary at the start of the election period to ensure orderly and credible elections. Deputies must be qualified voters known for impartiality, probity, and integrity, and shall not engage in partisan political activity.
5. Execute rules to ensure clean, honest, and orderly elections, including safeguards against unnecessary politicking, divisive campaigning, and unreasonable spending, as well as limits on the kinds, number, and size of campaign materials.
6. Canvass the votes cast for Student Council elections and proclaim the duly elected candidates.
7. Submit to the Student Law Government and any interested member of the San Beda Alabang School of Law community a detailed and comprehensive report on the conduct of each election.
