**🎬 REMEMBERING FPJ: “DA KING” OF PHILIPPINE CINEMA 🇵🇭**
**Fernando Poe Jr.** born **Ronald Allan Kelley Poe** on August 20, 1939, in Manila remains one of the most beloved figures in Philippine cinema. Known to millions of Filipinos as **“Da King,”** FPJ became an icon whose films often portrayed the courage, struggles, hopes, and dreams of ordinary Filipinos.
# # # 📜 A GLIMPSE INTO HIS HISTORY
After losing his father at a young age, FPJ left school and began working to help support his family. He entered the film industry as a **messenger and stuntman**, eventually making his acting debut in **1955** in *Anak ni Palaris*. His talent, charisma, and dedication quickly made him one of the biggest stars of Philippine cinema.
For decades, FPJ starred in, directed, wrote, and produced films. He appeared in **around 300 movies**, many of which became part of Filipino popular culture. His characters frequently stood for the **ordinary Filipino who fights for justice, protects the weak, and stands up against oppression.**
Beyond cinema, FPJ also entered public service and ran for **President of the Philippines in the 2004 elections**. He passed away on December 14, 2004, leaving behind a legacy that continues to be remembered by generations of Filipinos.
