The College of Arts and Sciences Student Council successfully held its first-ever General Assembly, themed “𝐂𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲: 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬,” on 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, via Facebook Live. The assembly aimed to foster a sense of belongingness and strengthen community spirit among students as they transition into the CAS community.

The event opened with a message from the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐀. 𝐀𝐦𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐑𝐏𝐦, 𝐑𝐏𝐬𝐲, who underscored the essence of the event’s theme and emphasized the value of synergy, connection, and collective growth within the community.
“In a world that is fast-paced, divided, and often misunderstood, our role as members of the College of Arts and Sciences becomes even more meaningful. We are not just learners; we are bridge builders. We are not just professionals; we are agents of understanding and change...”

This was followed by a special message from 𝐎𝐈𝐂 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐄. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐝𝐢, who reflected on the theme’s relevance to the mission of higher education — a space where knowledge is not only transmitted, but transformed into meaningful human connection.
“To you, our students, you are the heart of this mission. You carry the potential to influence communities, shape conversations, and contribute to a more understanding and humane society.”

𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐃𝐫. 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐨 𝐁. 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐨, 𝐋𝐏𝐓, also delivered a special message highlighting the significance of the disciplines of Communication and Psychology in today’s society — Communication as the medium, and Psychology as the anchor. He also addressed the rationale behind the University’s current online learning modality for the second semester, explaining that the institution is undergoing massive transformation through rigorous retrofitting and enhancement programs.

A meaningful message was also delivered by 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐭. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐀𝐥𝐝𝐚 𝐂. 𝐁𝐚𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞, 𝐋𝐏𝐓, 𝐌𝐁𝐀, Chairperson of the Department of Communication, who emphasized the role of the youth as the future of society. Meanwhile, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐢𝐥 𝐀. 𝐏𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞, 𝐌𝐀, 𝐑𝐏𝐦, Chairperson of the Department of Psychology, shared an inspiring message centered on one of Psychology’s essential ethical principles: 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆.
“Integrity is something that you build now in the small choices you make as students.”

She also highlighted another key principle, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀, reminding students that caring for others begins with caring for oneself. She acknowledged that feeling challenged, overwhelmed, or tired is normal, and encouraged students to make space for rest, reflection, and self-support practices.

The faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences — from department coordinators to faculty members of both the Department of Communication and the Department of Psychology — were introduced by 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐂 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐚 𝐕. 𝐁𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐝𝐚. 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐬. 𝐀𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚 formally introduced the officers of the University Student Council, highlighting the support they extend to the students of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa. In addition, 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐂 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐱. 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐮ñ𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐂 𝐏𝐑𝐎 𝐌𝐬. 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐎𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨 introduced the officers of the 𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 and the 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬’ 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲.

The officers of the 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 were likewise formally introduced by their adviser, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐚 𝐕. 𝐁𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐝𝐚. During the assembly, 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐂 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐬. 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐲 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚 presented the accomplished projects in the past semester such as the 𝐂𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 and the annually conducted 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 and 𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐠 held at Haven for Children, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐂 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐬. 𝐖𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐠 also presented the financial reports on previously conducted projects by the Council and discussed the total membership fee collected by the Council last semester.

The program concluded with closing remarks from 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐂 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐫. 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐥, who expressed gratitude to the faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences and to the students who took part in the assembly.

The successful conduct of the first-ever CAS General Assembly marked not only the beginning of a new academic journey for Communication and Psychology students, but also the strengthening of unity, collaboration, and shared purpose within the College of Arts and Sciences. Through the inspiring messages of the University officials, faculty members, and student leaders, the event served as a meaningful reminder that the CAS community is built on synergy, integrity, and compassionate understanding. As students continue their journey in the college, the assembly stands as a testament to the Council’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, empowered, and connected academic community.
