Mulanay Institute originally started as West Coast Institute. It was located at Libertad St. beside the St.

Founded by Dr. Vicente Vilar of Lopez, Quezon in 1947. Peter Catholic Church. It was the first and only private secondary school in Mulanay then. Its first graduates, under West Cost Institute compose of 18 graduates. That was in 1958. The following year 1957-1959 was the last graduation under its old name. In SY 1959-1960 it offened only up to first year high school. During that time, the school

incurred several losses so its founder Dr. Vilar offered the civic minded people of Mulanay to continue its operations. Consequently in date 1960, a group of persons contributed their Funds to operate West Cost Institute. They were:

13. Magdalena Vola De Morales
14. Prudencio Maxino, Sr. In 1961, the group looked for a permanent site to house the school. A parcel of land with an area of 1500 square meter was contributed by Dr. Mariano N. Morales, Atty Dionisio N. Morales, and Tanciana Morales Maxino which form part of their capital contribution to the school. In SY 1960-1961, it offered up to second yearn high school and on the following year it offered up to third year high school. A new building was constructed in 1962 out of materials bougth from the old roof of the chruch. The classrooms have windows and no doors yet. In 1963, Mulanay Institute had its first graduates under its new name. It also had a new building on its present location at the national road, Poblacion 3, Mulanay, Quezon. Mulanay Institute was formally incorporated has a stock corporation on December 10, 1573. From its humble beginnings, Mulanay Institute withstood the test of time and will continue to serve the youth of Mulanay in shaping and building the future.
