I dug a lonely grave and carefully buried my name.
While remembering my past and all its pain.
I lost myself to a hands that i no longer know, As people words still haunt my room and my lost spirit wandering slow.
I ask my soul what i did so wrong,
to fear the very peace for which all people long?
Love and freedom- twin catastrophe I deeply fear,
Is living freely just a dream we never get to near?
In the process, I forgot the very name i used to bear,
Haunted by the words of those no longer there,
Of all the nightmares we could choose, Why is it love we fear the most? why is it love that we lose?
I watched the world fall in love, they speak proudly and free,
While quietly I hide on the ground where no one can see.
They treat my love as something strange and wrong,
While others walk the path like they were born to belong.
My love is treated like a sickness, a crime,
but is my type of love and freedom really so different from them all?
To marry someone not your gender- that's the rule to trace
The only law of love allowed to show its open face.
If I stray from the path they drew, a sinner ill be known
Chased by hatred, guilt and will be utterly alone.
Love is a terrible thing to hate, a cruel thing that one can make.
Yet they look down with deep disgust, horror and shame while I am begging for release and calling out your name:
"𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘮𝘦, 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘸𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘵. 𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵."
The panic I felt catches up to me in the dark.
I wake up sweating, tears falling down,
unable to breathe, gasping for air I cannot find
But slowly through the suffocation and panic, I remembered how to fight,
And saw this love for what it is: a pure and holy light.
It does not exist for a biological urge,
It does not exist simply to reproduce- instead, it would be seen as love that destined to grow beyond all earthly use.
I look up at the shining colors of the pride flag on my wall
Hoping that one day the world will finally hear the call.
That every person on this earth deserve their turn,
To be loved, to be cherished, with no more truths to burn
No secrecy to suffocate, no terror in the night,
Just human beings stepping out into the honest light.
I look at the truth i hold in my hands, the truth they can't conceal
𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘪 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘪 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭?
I look back at the quiet grave where all of this begins
And know I am alive today—
Because 𝑰 𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒚 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒊𝒏.
