The College of Fisheries (CF) of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) underwent the 2026 Internal Quality Audit (IQA) under the Academic Affairs Program as part of the Universityโ€™s continuing efforts to strengthen quality assurance and sustain the effective implementation of its ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS).

The audit activities commenced with an orientation for CF faculty members and staff auditees on August 4, 2026. The audit proper was conducted on August 12, covering the Collegeโ€™s three academic departmentsโ€”the Department of Aquaculture, Department of Aquatic Resources, Ecology, and Management, and Department of Aquatic Postharvestโ€”followed by the audit of the Office of the Dean on August 13.

The audit team was led by Dr. John Rafael M. Antalan, who conducted the audit for the BS Fisheries Program, while Assoc. Prof. Nenita S. Fabrigas audited the Office of the Dean. Mr. Gerardo V. Ilagan audited the Equipment Maintenance and Calibration.

Under the leadership of Acting Dean Dr. Rea Mae C. Templonuevo, the College actively participated in the audit together with the department chairs: Dr. Hazel Monica M. Peralta, Department of Aquaculture; Dr. Jaypee S. Samson, Department of Aquatic Resources, Ecology, and Management; and Mr. Jhon Christian P. Suyom, Department of Aquatic Postharvest. Also participating were College Secretary Mr. Junard A. Catabay, College Document Controller Ms. Ronalyn M. Macaso, and CF staff member Ms. Evelyn P. Alcaraz, who supported the College throughout the audit process.

The 2026 Internal Quality Audit provided CF with an opportunity to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of its processes, verify compliance with QMS requirements, and identify areas for continual improvement. Through the audit, the College reaffirmed its commitment to quality instruction, effective academic management, and the continual enhancement of its programs and services, contributing to CLSUโ€™s sustained implementation of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) welcomed Korean student volunteers from Sunchon National University (SCNU) on August 11, 2026, as part of the SCNU 2026 Overseas Volunteer Program at Central Luzon State University (CLSU).

The volunteers, who are college students pursuing fields including Environmental Science, Pharmacy, and other disciplines, were warmly received by Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Vice President for Academic Affairs. During their engagement with the OVPAA, they assist in recording and receiving documents, welcoming and accommodating clients, and assisting visitors in accessing the appropriate university services.

The SCNU delegation is composed of Kim Taewook (๊น€ํƒœ์šฑ), SCNU staff, and student volunteers Kim Seojin (๊น€์„œ์ง„), Kim Su Yeon (๊น€์ˆ˜์—ฐ), Park Hyeon Woo (๋ฐ•ํ˜„์šฐ), and Jeong Ji Yun (์ •์ง€์œค). They were accompanied by Dr. Emil F. Ubaldo, Chief of the Mobility and Intercultural Exchange Unit of the CLSU International Affairs Office, and Mr. Dominador Dizon, representative of SCNU.

The SCNU 2026 Overseas Volunteer Program at CLSU is far more than an international outreach effortโ€”it is a living testament to the power of shared education and cultural humility. As Korean student volunteers cross borders to serve, learn, and grow alongside a host community, the engagement expands CLSU's global footprint through cross-cultural exchange while strengthening SCNU's commitment to social responsibility and experiential global education.

Through this meaningful people-to-people engagement, CLSU and SCNU continue to demonstrate how international partnerships can create opportunities for students to learn not only across disciplines, but also across cultures.

Four students from Sunchon National University (SCNU), Republic of Koreaโ€”Lee Jeong Woo, Choi Chan Ung, Kim Jeong Yun, and Lee Chae Eunโ€”took part in a cross-cultural immersion and volunteer activity at the College of Fisheriesโ€“Freshwater Aquaculture Center (CF-FAC) on August 10, 2026, as part of their overseas volunteer program at Central Luzon State University (CLSU) from August 9โ€“12, 2026.

The activity provided the SCNU students with meaningful exposure to Philippine freshwater aquaculture, Filipino culture, and the local community through hands-on experiences and interactions with CLSU faculty and personnel. During their visit, the students had the opportunity to interact with CF Acting Dean Dr. Rea Mae C. Templonuevo; CF Department Chairs Dr. Jaypee S. Samson, Mr. Jhon Christian P. Suyom, and Dr. Hazel Monica M. Peralta; Ms. Julieta D. Holasca, assigned to the FAC Living Fish Museum; Ms. Ave Joy C. Ramos, FAC Science Research Assistant; and FAC staff Ms. Rea Angelyn Castillo and Mr. Ivan Guiao. These interactions gave the students a closer look at the College, its academic programs, and freshwater aquaculture initiatives, while also providing opportunities to exchange knowledge, experiences, and perspectives.

Beyond fisheries and aquaculture learning, the immersion allowed the students to experience Filipino culture and hospitality, build friendships, and strengthen connections between the Philippines and South Korea. The activity highlighted the value of volunteerism, cultural exchange, and mutual learning in creating meaningful educational experiences beyond the classroom.
The activity also contributed to strengthening the academic and cultural ties between CLSU and SCNU, paving the way for continued student engagement and future collaborative initiatives between the two institutions.
