IN PHOTOS | CLSU Launches ‘Sidlan’ Community Pantry to Support Students

Embodying the Filipino spirit of bayanihan, the Laban sa Ipinagbabawal na Gamot, Tulay na Agapay sa Sielesyuans at Sambayanan (LIGTAS-CLSU), a non-college-based student organization, in partnership with the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) headed by Dean Irene Bustos, officially launched its community pantry today, August 26 at the OSA tambayan.

Dubbed “Sidlan: Ang Pantry ng Sielesyuans,” the event was first conceptualized two years ago through the collective contributions and support of the university community. Guided by the principle “Kumuha ayon sa pangangailangan, magbigay ayon sa kakayahan,” the pantry will operate daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM for all CLSU students.

During the opening ceremony, LIGTAS-CLSU President Jovan Clay Evangelista emphasized the project's community-driven mission.

"Ito ang Sidlan, ang pantry ng Sielesyuan, isang proyekto mula sa komunidad, para sa komunidad,” Mr. Evangelista said.

University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella commended the organizers for initiating a program aimed at directly assisting fellow students.

"Alam naman natin na hindi pantay-pantay ang kakayahan ng bawat estudyante dito sa ating campus, kaya from time to time ay maglalagay din tayo dito upang matulungan ang ibang estudyante,” Pres. Abella stated, assuring continued institutional and personal support for the project.

To embody the spirit of the community pantry, Dr. Abella brought with him essential groceries and sacks of rice to share with the community.

The organization continues to welcome donations of food and essential goods from the CLSU Community and the public, while encouraging all Sielesyuans, especially those facing financial hardship, to take what they need from the pantry.

LOOK | CLSU "Golden Grains" Achieve 85.71% Passing Rate in Guidance Counselors Licensure Exam

Six graduates from Central Luzon State University (CLSU) successfully passed the August 2026 Guidance Counselors Licensure Examination, administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

First-time takers secured a 100% passing rate, while retakers registered a 50% passing rate—bringing CLSU's overall institutional performance to 85.71%.

LOOK | Former Student Regent Viterbo is Among the Region’s Top Outstanding Students, Completes DAP’s BAGANI Program

Ms. Aljone V. Viterbo, former Student Regent of Central Luzon State University (CLSU), has been recognized as a top finalist in the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) program for Central Luzon, affirming her commitment to academic excellence and passion for public service. Prior to this, she also completed the pioneering program of the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) for the youth dubbed as BAGANI: Rising Leaders Development Program.

Ms. Viterbo, who graduated magna cm laude, served as the Chairperson of the University Supreme Student Council (USSC) and as Student Regent for academic year 2025-2026. Her TOSP selection reflects both her academic performance and her eight-year record of sustained involvement in community outreach and volunteer initiatives.

“Hindi ko po ito itinuturing na aking tagumpay lamang. Tulad ng lagi kong sinasabi, hindi ko magagawa ang lahat ng ito kung hindi dahil sa mga taong aking pinaglilingkuran at nakasama sa paglilingkod, pag-aaral, at pagkatuto,” Ms. Viterbo shared.

Highlighting her deep commitment to public service and community development, she shared, “Ang lahat ng ito ay upang patuloy akong makapagbigay ng serbisyo para sa ikabubuti ng ating komunidad.”

The regional selection process was organized by the TOSP Region 3 Alumni Community of Heroes (TOSP-R3ACH). The program provides a platform for student leaders across the region to strengthen leadership capabilities, reinforce core values, and advance social development initiatives.

Meanwhile, before receiving the TOSP accolade, Ms. Viterbo completed the BAGANI Program of the DAP, which aims to equip emerging leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to develop and implement sustainable community-based initiatives.

Held from June 13 to July 11, 2026, the program selected only 56 fellows from more than 2,000 applicants nationwide, making Ms. Viterbo one of the distinguished BAGANI fellows who successfully underwent the highly competitive selection process.

After completing the BAGANI Program, Ms. Viterbo shared a profound realization about the value of public service, saying, “Serving the people is a privilege. The Philippines and the Filipino people are worth fighting for. Kahit magulo at basag ang bansa natin ngayon, may pag-asa pa rin, at puwede iyong magsimula sa atin.”

With this, the University extends its congratulations to Ms. Viterbo on this achievement and her continued success. May your efforts continue to inspire the student body and future leaders of our country.

IN PHOTOS | CLSU, SCNU Strengthen Ties through Academic and Research Exchange

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) and Sunchon National University (SCNU) strengthened their institutional partnership through a two-day collaborative event on August 19–20, 2026, featuring a ceremonial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing, a friendship wall unveiling, and an international research symposium.

Key officials from both universities gathered to sign an MoU establishing a broad framework for collaboration. The agreement covers Korean language education, joint research projects, faculty and student exchanges, advisory consultations, and advanced academic development.

CLSU President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, College of Agriculture (CAg) Dean Dr. Jayson J. Juan, and International Affairs Office Director Dr. Parsons N. Hail, led the said signing. Representatives from SCNU included Department of Animal Science Head Prof. Dr. Park Gwang-ok and Dean of International Affairs Prof. Dr. Seo Kang Seok. They were also joined by SCNU delegates Prof. Dr. Ha Ho-kyung, Prof. Dr. Sangsuk Lee, Prof. Dr. Ki Chang Nam, Prof. Dr. Mijoon Pak, and Mr. Dominador Dizon Jr.

In his message, Pres. Abella highlighted CLSU's dedication to strengthening the partnership through ongoing academic, scientific, and cultural collaborations.

Aside from this, the SCNU–CLSU Friendship Wall was unveiled, symbolizing the shared values and aspirations that continue to deepen the relationship between the two universities. Laboratory equipment was also donated to be used in the newly renovated facility at the Department of Animal Science, CAg.

The event continued with the SCNU–CLSU Joint International Symposium held at the Academic Affairs Amphitheater centered on the theme "Recent Advances in Animal Science: Sharing Research Trends and Strengthening Collaboration.”

Attended by administrators, researchers, faculty, and students, the event featured three technical sessions focusing on research and innovations in livestock production, animal nutrition, dairy science, and related fields, providing a platform for scholars from both universities to present research aligned with global trends and Philippine agricultural needs.

This partnership marks another milestone in the ongoing relationship between CLSU and SCNU, reinforcing their commitment to internationalization and opening meaningful opportunities for students, faculty members, researchers, and their university communities.

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 129, released by the Office of the Philippine President, appropriate alternative work arrangements shall be implemented in some areas affected by the incoming typhoon, including Nueva Ecija, tomorrow, August 19, 2026.

As such, Central Luzon State University (CLSU) shall implement a work-from-home arrangement while classes shall shift to asynchronous or synchronous.

IN PHOTOS | CLSU Acquires First eBus for Nature-friendly Transportation

Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the Business Affairs Program (UBAP), marked a milestone in campus mobility with the official acquisition of the first Electric Bus (eBus) named Project SULONG (Sustainable University Loop towards Nature-friendly and Green Transportation).

The eBus, which can carry 35 passengers (20 seated, 15 standing), was purchased for ₱ 5,488,000.00 and made possible through the University's Income-Generating Project. The vehicle will serve as additional transportation for students, faculty, and staff.

The eBus will operate on a cashless payment system as all fares will be exclusively digital. Passengers will pay a fixed fare of ₱15.00 regardless of the distance traveled along the loop.

However, in the meantime, while the payment system is still being installed, the eBus service will be free of charge. Passengers simply need to present a valid ID to avail of the service.

To ensure smooth and convenient transit across the campus, designated pick-up and drop-off points are provided starting from the Main Gate. The eBus will wait for 30 seconds at each designated stop to accommodate passengers. It is also equipped with GPS tracking, allowing students to conveniently monitor the eBus’s real-time location and track its arrival at their preferred stop.

The University hopes to acquire a second eBus following the successful implementation and operation of the first unit, subject to the availability of funds and necessary resources.

This acquisition demonstrates CLSU’s commitment to providing sustainable, efficient, and eco-friendly transportation options for all stakeholders, especially for the students.

LOOK | 32 Golden Grains Savor Victory in Food Tech Licensure Exam

Thirty-two Golden Grains of the Bachelor of Science in Food Technology Program from the College of Home Science and Industry (CHSI) successfully passed the August 2026 Food Technologist Licensure Examination (FTLE) held on August 12-13, 2026, and administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

The University achieved an overall passing rate of 72.73%, surpassing the national passing rate of 66.32%. This success was highlighted by a 77.78% passing rate among first-time takers and a 50% passing rate for retakers.

This year’s board examination showed a notable increase over the previous year’s FTLE passing rate, demonstrating the years of intensive preparation and hands-on laboratory experience of the Golden Grains.

This performance underscores the efforts of the Department of Food Science and Technology, and its graduates to strengthen academic excellence and innovation in food science and technology.
