Training Success: It’s a MANGOod Day! 🌟

The Department of Crop Science, through the SPRINT-Hort Program funded by DOST-PCAARRD, proudly held a training on Postharvest Handling of Mango: Ensuring Quality from Farm to Market on September 16, 2026, at the CAg Conference Hall.

The SPRINT-Hort CLSU Team, led by Assoc. Prof. Joan A. Bayla, with Ms. Hanna A. Cabading and Ms. Mylene DC. Tomenes, presented research outputs on mango postharvest practices, including loss assessment and handling trials.

Meanwhile, the SPRINT-Hort UPLB Team, composed of Ms. Daphne Cassandra H. Gonzales and Engr. Ryan Anthony Lualhati, demonstrated innovative technologies such as hot water treatment and the CoolBot-assisted cold storage system. Ms. Jennifer C. Padrid complemented this with a discussion on the importance of basic record-keeping.

Farmers, agri-technicians, and BS Agriculture students actively participated and gained practical solutions to keep mangoes fresh, safe, and market-ready.

Through initiatives like this, the Department of Crop Science continues to empower communities with research-driven technologies, strengthening the horticulture industry and ensuring that every harvested mango reaches consumers in excellent condition.
