A rainy Friday, August 7, 2026, in Taytay, Rizal, turned into another meaningful step toward strengthening Program PUSONG ALAGA. 💙

The team had a productive meeting with Maria Lourdes P. Umali, PTRP, Special Project Head for Community-Based Rehabilitation, Special Interest Group of the Philippine Physical Therapy Association, Inc. (PPTA), to explore possible areas of collaboration for Project GABAY.

Joining the meeting were Program Leader Dr. Jannie SJ. Manimtim and Project Leaders Prof. Johanne Aterrado, Prof. Jeremy Aterrado, and Atty. Jansen San Juan.

Despite the rainy weather, the meeting opened promising opportunities for partnership and shared initiatives toward providing meaningful support and services for children with special needs and their families. Another step forward for PUSONG ALAGA—building partnerships, extending care, and creating inclusive communities. 💙

💙 Building Partnerships for a More Inclusive Community | Pusong ALAGA 💙

On August 13, 2026, the Pusong ALAGA Extension Program faculty extensionists, together with the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) of Morong, headed by Mrs. Natividad San Esteban, met with the Municipality of Morong Mayor Sidney B. Soriano to formally present the program and explore opportunities for stronger collaboration and support for persons with disabilities (PWDs), children with special needs, and their families.

The meeting builds on the presentation of Pusong ALAGA before the Sangguniang Bayan of Morong last July 27, 2026, highlighting potential partnerships in livelihood development, literacy and education, skills enhancement, family support, and other inclusive community-based initiatives, presented by Dr. Jannie SJ. Manimtim Program Leader Pusong ALAGA and Prof. Jeremy Aterrado, Project Leader of Project BUKLOD.

Through the collaboration of the Municipality of Morong, PDAO, URS Pusong ALAGA, and other community partners, the program aims to create meaningful opportunities that empower PWDs, children with special needs, and their families toward greater participation, independence, and quality of life.

📋📝Ongoing Collaborations and Partnership Initiatives🗣️🧑‍🤝‍🧑

Ongoing collaborations are in progress. Dr. Jannie Manimtim, accompanied by Mrs. Ramona Marcialina Reodique, secured an appointment to present the "Pusong Alaga" initiative to the Sangguniang Bayan of Morong and the Secretary of the Sangguniang Bayan. Furthermore, beneficiaries of Project Luntiang Isip convened with Mr. Guillermo B. Gomez, Principal of Maybancal SPED Center. Ongoing collaborations continue to strengthen the implementation of the Pusong ALAGA Extension Program through active engagement with key stakeholders and partner institutions.

In support of Project Luntiang Isip, the program beneficiaries met with Mr. Guillermo B. Gomez, Principal of Maybancal SPED Center, to discuss the project's implementation, identify the needs of the learners, and strengthen institutional collaboration.

Likewise, a coordination meeting was conducted with the Principal and Focal Person of Morong National High School to discuss potential areas of collaboration, align program initiatives with the school's priorities, and explore opportunities for future extension activities on July 14, 2026.

In addition, the extension team had the privilege of participating in the second day of the National Disability Rights Week Celebration, held on July 20, 2026, at the Municipal Covered Court of Morong. The event provided an opportunity to express support for disability inclusion, engage with stakeholders and community partners, and reinforce the University's commitment to promoting the rights, welfare, and empowerment of persons with disabilities through meaningful extension initiatives.

Attorney Jansen San Juan delivered a notable address during the National Disability Rights Week celebration on July 21st at the Philcode Recreational Center in Brgy. Lagundi, Morong, Rizal last July 22, 2026. Asso Prof Jeremy Atterado subsequently presented the "Pusong Alaga" program, emphasizing Project Damayan and Project Buklod, under the leadership of Dr. Jannie Manimtim. The event was attended by parents of children with disabilities who reside in Morong.

Dr. Jannie S. Manimtim, Program Leader of Pusong ALAGA, attended the 2026 National Disability Rights Week Celebration on July 17, 2026, held at the Morong Municipal Covered Court. Together with Mrs. Natividad A. San Esteban, Head of the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) of Morong, also had the opportunity to meet with the teachers of the Maybancal SPED Center to introduce and orient them to the Pusong ALAGA Program, thereby strengthening partnerships and collaborative efforts in promoting inclusive education and support for learners with special needs.

The Pusong ALAGA Extension Program successfully conducted its Extension Planning Meeting on July 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM via Google Meet. The meeting was attended by all faculty extensionists involved in the program, who collaboratively discussed and planned the implementation of meaningful activities designed to support and empower students and parents.
