The 2026 Student Research Congress was successfully conducted on April 8, 2026, at the Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Tanghalang Sining (EARTS), Function Hall, and URS AVEC Room.

The event brought together student researchers from various colleges and academic programs, providing a platform to present studies under the descriptive, developmental, and experimental categories.

The RISES 2026 Research Congress is currently in progress, featuring the presentation of student research across the College of Science. As part of the program, two studies from each academic program are being presented, with diverse research topics, methodologies, and scientific contributions.

At the conclusion of the congress, outstanding studies and presenters will be recognized through several awards, including Best in Descriptive Research (1st–3rd Place), Best in Experimental Research (1st–3rd Place), and Best Presenter, in recognition of research excellence and effective scientific communication.

𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗢𝗪 | Exploring Ethical AI in Research at RISES 2026

The seminar titled “The Emerging Role of Generative AI and Its Ethical Use in Research and Innovation” officially began as part of the RISES 2026 program. The session is being delivered by Mr. Jeffrey A. Aborot, Supervising Science and Research Specialist from the Department of Science and Technology – Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST–ASTI), and centers on the growing role of generative AI in research and innovation, with emphasis on ethical and responsible application.

Students from various programs of the College of Science (COS) attentively listen as the seminar addresses current trends, challenges, and best practices for integrating AI into scientific research.

𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗢𝗪 | RISES 2026 Opens in High Spirits

Prior to the start of the seminar, Kriste Danielle Añain, the event’s emcee, led an icebreaker activity to engage the audience. The energizer encouraged participants to take part in a brief dance that created a welcoming atmosphere while awaiting the start of the seminar.

Following the icebreaker, the program commenced at 10AM with the opening remarks of Dr. Wilma Lomangaya, Dean of the College of Science. Heny Banta, SRO Internal VP, presented the event rationale, and afterwards, Saimond James Lin, SRO External VP, introduced the seminar speaker.

RISES 2026, organized by the SRO, is a whole-day event and serves as both a seminar and a research congress for the College of Science, focused on student research and ethical innovations in technology.
