Davao City | February 23โ24, 2026 โ The Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges Region XI (PASUC XI) successfully conducted a two-day โScopus Publication Trainingโ on February 23โ24, 2026 at the World Palace Hotel in Davao City. The initiative aimed to strengthen research capability and enhance the international visibility of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Region XI.
The training featured experts from GHF University Excellence: Dr. Don Eliseo L. Prisno III, Jerico B. Ogaya, and Christian Joseph N. Ong, who delivered practical and insightful sessions on preparing and submitting manuscripts to Scopus-indexed journals.
Representatives from six SUCs across Region XI participated in the event, demonstrating a collective commitment to improving research productivity and global competitiveness. Among the institutions present was Davao de Oro State College, headed by Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay.
During the sessions, the speakers underscored the importance of Scopus publications in achieving international visibility, strengthening academic reputation, and improving institutional rankings. They provided step-by-step guidance on selecting appropriate journals and structuring manuscripts based on international standards. A significant highlight of the training was the discussion on how to choose legitimate journals and safeguard research from predatory, cloned, or fake publications, ensuring that participants can protect both their work and their institutionsโ reputations.
The writeshop component allowed participants to work directly on their manuscripts with expert mentoring. At the culmination of the workshop, representatives from the different SUCs presented their draft outputs for feedback. For Davao de Oro State College, Mr. Orville J. Evardo Jr., Research Publication Unit Head, presented their output and received constructive comments from the facilitators and fellow participants.
The two-day engagement concluded with renewed motivation among attendees, reinforcing PASUC XIโs commitment to elevating research excellence and expanding the global research footprint of SUCs in Region XI.
