Pamulaan Center for Indigenous Peoples Education is an educational institution dedicated to the indigenous peoples in the Philippines.

The first of its kind in the country, its main thrust is to create a culturally appropriate and relevant pathways of TRAINING and FORMATION for the indigenous children, youth, community leaders, and development workers. The Center hopes to produce graduates equipped with knowledge and abilities to initiate collaborative actions towards sustainable development of IP communities. The term "Pamulaan"

H.E. Peter Kell, New Zealand's Ambassador to the Philippines & Hon Aupito William Sio, Minister of Pacific Peoples, and representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs visited the AdvoCafe, Manila on September 27, 2022

Hon Aupito William Sio, Minister of Pacific Peoples together with New Zealand's Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Peter Kell visited AdvoCafe in Manila to conduct a discussion with different indigenous representatives and discuss the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) development efforts in the Philippines.

Ms. Sylvia Paraguya, Higa-onon, CEO of the International Conference on Cooperatives in the Philippines; Mr. Paul Anthony de Guzman of Go Negosyo with Bae Mercy Laglagan, Matigsalug; Ms. Eunice Gasmin and Ms. Angelee Fame of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) with Bae Rosalia Raha Mangoda Oagdan, Arumanen-Manobo; and Mr. Benjamin Abadiano, ILAWAN-Pamulaan President and Founder of AdvoCafe with its indigenous youth staff & volunteers have shared and presented.

The event served as an opportunity to initiate conversations, share experiences and knowledge to create meaningful connections, and strengthen mutual cooperation to guarantee indigenous peoples’ inclusion in economic development.

The National Coalition on IP Higher Education (NiCHE) had the Executive Committee meeting via a hybrid approach last September 12, 2022. It was convened and facilitated by the University of the Philippines- Baguio, headed by its Chancellor, Dr. Corazon L. Abansi, as the NiCHE 2022-2024 Chair with Dr. Tala Ramos of Cordillera Studies Center of UP-Baguio.

The meeting participants were Fr. Neil H. Sta-ana, University President of the University of Saint Louis-Tuguegarao with Dr. Darin Tindowen, Dr. Marilyn Ngales, and Ms. Leonora Astete of Lyceum of the Philippines-Manila, Mrs. Marilou Floriza of Ateneo de Zamboanga University- Center for Community Extension Services, Dr. Jandy Danzalan of Philippine Normal University- North Luzon, and Mr. Benjamin D. Abadiano of ILAWAN-Pamulaan.

The meeting focused on establishing relationships and strengthening collaboration among institutions in Higher Education in the Philippines in pushing agenda for a more relevant Indigenous Peoples Higher Education in the country. It also discussed its plans and ways forward for the next two years.

The ILAWAN Volunteer & Leadership Center, Inc. & Pamulaan Center for Indigenous Peoples Education, Inc. celebrated their 22nd Founding Anniversary last September 10, 2022, at Marco Polo Hotel, Pasig City, and via zoom. ILAWAN and Pamulaan were founded in 2000 with the mission and advocacy of accompanying & journeying with the poor and marginalized, especially the indigenous peoples, through education, formation, and other development programs and services.

The celebration started with a reflection session participated in all by its Board of Trustees, staff, and volunteers. Right after, the Program Coordinators presented the program updates from 2021-2022 to the ILAWAN-Pamulaan Board of Trustees.

The milestones of ILAWAN-Pamulaan throughout the years have continuously ignited by its spirit of SHARING LIFE THROUGH LOVING-SERVICE.

Above all, ILAWAN-Pamulaan is deeply grateful to the individuals and organizations for their trust, support, and confidence in the mission and advocacy of ILAWAN-Pamulaan.

Education for IP Youth Program | 21 April, 2022

Last April 21, 2022, the Pamulaan Center for IP Education, headed by its President and Co-founder, Mr. Benjamin D. Abadiano, with the Pamulaan Staff, had an initial meeting with the Dr. Levy Arago Jr., the University President of Mindoro State University (MinSU) at Mindoro State University- Calapan Branch, Calapan, Oriental Mindoro. The discussion centered on the possible partnership with the mission of accompanying Mangyan college students in attaining relevant and responsive tertiary education through an Educational Assistance College Program of Pamulaan Center for IP Education and ILAWAN, Inc.

The program hopes that the Mangyan youth, as future leaders, are capable of leading their communities in rising to various challenges and needs and hence can protect and promote their culture and values, especially their ancestral lands and protected areas.

MinSU-Pamulaan Center for IP Education is now open to Mangyan upcoming college students interested in applying for the education program.

1-3 April 2022 | Launching of Teduray-Lambangian Living Heritage Center and Seminar-Workshop on Basic Heritage Center Management

ILAWAN, Inc., in collaboration with the New Zealand Embassy to the Philippines and FIDES Foundation, congratulated the Ambitanan cohorts with the Teduray-Lambangian youth for successfully implementing their peace project, "The Teduray-Lambangian Living Heritage Center," at the heart of the Timanan Elementary School, Timanan, South Upi, Maguindanao.

The said center is the first concrete project implemented by the Teduray Lambangian Manganguda Bangkeson (TLAMABANG) youth organization, hence the first living heritage center in Maguindanao. The project has been the product as an innovative solution during the Ambitanan Indigenous Youth PEACEtival happened last November 2021 at IP-CARES, Davao City.

The project hopes to contribute to the promotion of their rich Teduray and Lambangian culture, especially in the assertion of their rights and attainment of peace in the Bangsamoro area. Thus, ensuring to pass it on to their children by integrating it into the teaching-learning processes in the school.

After the launching ceremony, fifty (50) Teduray and Lambangian youth, elders and leaders, DepEd teachers, and BLGU representatives of South and North Upi attended the first session of the Basic Living Heritage Center Management Seminar-Workshop. It was facilitated by Mr. Benjamin D. Abadiano, President of ILAWAN-Pamulaan and founder of The Living Heritage Center in Mintal, Davao City, with the selected Ambitanan cohorts and USeP-Pamulaan Anthropology students.

Truly, the project has increased confidence among the Teduray-Lambangian youth in implementing proactive efforts for the transformation and sustainability of their communities.
