Student-researchers from Dilangalen National High School (DNHS) earned three qualifying spots for the Regional Science and Technology Fair (RSTF) following a standout performance at the 2026 Division Science and Technology Fair (DSTF) TUKLAS competition.

Leading the delegation, CM Jann I. Fugata captured first place in the Mathematical and Computational Science individual category under coach Almar Jr. R. Cariรฑo to secure an automatic berth in the regional stage.

DNHS locked in two additional regional slots with second-place finishes in the team categories. The group composed of Emmy Marie Peรฑaroya, Aerol E. Ortiz, and Josh Kervin C. Carcueva placed second in Life Sciences under coach Janessa B. Sebio, while Irich Mareen H. Rebosa, Jesh Althea S. Tamalla, and John Dave R. Tabios took second in Robotics and Intelligent Machines under coach Ma. Lyn Tinambunan.

Additionally, the schoolโ€™s Stemazing entry, coached by Rose Ann Marie De Castro, notched a fourth-place finish. The delegation extended its gratitude to Ricky Seniel Flores and the school administration for their support as the qualifiers prepare for the upcoming regional competition.

Dilangalen National High School (DNHS) will temporarily shift to asynchronous instruction on Friday, September 4, 2026, citing limited teacher availability and potential health risks from regional haze.

In School Memorandum No. 13, s. 2026, Principal I Ricky S. Flores explained that a majority of faculty members are participating in authorized DepEd seminars, trainings, and sports management activities, constraining regular classroom supervision.

The school administration also noted safety concerns regarding deteriorating air quality linked to smoke reportedly originating from Indonesia.

Issued pursuant to DepEd guidelines on emergency class suspensions and school calendar implementation, the shift falls within the current Enrichment and End-of-Term Block to ensure continuous learning.

Under the arrangement, students will complete designated tasks at home, while those participating in the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program or requiring remediation may report on-site under strict health protocols, including mandatory facemask wearing.

Personnel not participating in external DepEd activities are required to report to school to manage administrative tasks, prepare modules, and check student requirements.

The Provincial Government of Cotabato recognized Dilangalen National High School (DNHS) as an Outstanding Healthy Learning Institution for 2025 during its Awards Day, honoring the schoolโ€™s efforts to promote a healthy, safe, and supportive learning environment.

The recognition followed DNHSโ€™ Outstanding rating in the Oplan sa Kalusugan sa DepEd (OKD)โ€“Healthy Learning Institution (HLI) Certification Regional Validation, where the school successfully passed all six pillars of the program during the regional validation this year.

The recognition was among the awards presented by the Provincial Government of Cotabato under the leadership of Governor Emmylou โ€œLalaโ€ Taliรฑo-Mendoza.

The provincial recognition affirms DNHSโ€™ continued commitment to creating a conducive learning environment where students can develop academically while being supported in their health and welfare.

DNHS credited the Schools Division Office of Cotabato, led by Schools Division Superintendent Romelito Flores, CESO V, and the Cotabato Health Division, led by Cecile J. Segumban, SDO Cotabato OKD focal person, for providing technical assistance throughout the validation process.

The school also recognized the contributions of its HLI Technical Working Group, teachers, utility staff, and non-teaching personnel in securing the Outstanding rating.

The recognition underscores DNHSโ€™ contribution to advancing health-promoting practices and strengthening learner welfare within the school community and the province.

Dilangalen National High School (DNHS) was conferred the Regional WASH in Schools (WinS) Seal of Excellence Award during a ceremony held today, Aug. 20, at Habi Hotel, Koronadal City.

Under the leadership of Dr. Ermie E. Rabara, former school principal, DNHS earned both a plaque and certificate of recognition for sustaining the National WinS Three-Star Standard across three consecutive academic years: SY 2023โ€“2024, SY 2024โ€“2025, and SY 2025โ€“2026.

The award commends the schoolโ€™s commitment to providing a healthy, safe, and learner-friendly environment.

The regional gathering aimed to highlight best practices in water, sanitation, and hygiene management across schools in the region.

A Victory of Shared Effort

This milestone was made possible through the unwavering support of the school administration, DNHS WinS Focal Persons and Coordinators, Technical Working Group (TWG) teachers, non-teaching personnel, and students, alongside the active partnership of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Local Government Unit (LGU) - Midsayap, Hon. Rolando C. Sacdalan, and key stakeholders.

To bolster campus defense and protect students from potential security crises, Dilangalen High School (DHS), in partnership with the Midsayap Municipal Police Station (MPS), conducted an active shooter simulation drill on campus today, August 20.

The initiative comes amid heightened security concerns following recent campus violence, including a deadly shooting in Tacloban last June and a subsequent attack on Tuesday at Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) that left two junior high school students dead, including the shooter.

โ€œThis initiative aimed to equip both learners and school personnel with tactical awareness, proper lockdown maneuvers, and quick-response protocols in the event of an armed threat on school grounds,โ€ Police Lieutenant (PLT) Anabelle A. Obra, Deputy Chief of Police for Administration, noted.

During the drill, police officers executed realistic emergency scenarios to train the campus community on immediate action steps, including the identification of safe zones, strategic evacuations, and proper coordination with law enforcement personnel during active shooter scenarios.

PLT Obra explained that the drill will serve as practical training to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in the school community.

School administrators and local police authorities assured parents and the public that all necessary safety precautions were strictly observed throughout the exercise to prevent panic and ensure minimal disruption to regular academic operations.

Dilangalen National High School (DNHS) officially launched Cycle 2 of its Reading Decathlon for School Year 2026โ€“2027 to boost literacy and train future fiction writers among Grade 8 to 10 students.

The initiative, led by DNHS teacher Edwin Badilla and US-based sponsor Penelope Valdez, received 20 donated books featuring diverse genres and balanced male-female protagonists.

The 10-title reading list includes The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Matilda by Roald Dahl, Front Desk by Kelly Yang, Among the Hidden by Margaret Haddix, Mabuhay by Zachary Sterling, Isabel in Bloom by Mae Respicio, Who Was Marco Polo by Joan Holub, Well, this is Awkward by Rachel Vail, Freddie vs the Family Curse by Traci Badua, and The Dollhouse Murders by Betty Wright.

First-year finishers Jelyn Garcia and Rose Angela C. Lorenzo, along with upcoming completers, will join a virtual storywriters club to further hone their writing skills.

Dilangalen National High School is strengthening its commitment to learner nutrition by launching its School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP), providing 50 identified learners with nutritious meals for 120 feeding days guided by the Pinggang Pinoy food guide.

Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 13, s. 2026, titled Institutional Guidelines on the Implementation of the SBFP, DNHS implemented the initiative to support the nutritional well-being of learners and promote healthy eating practices through regular access to nutritious food.

The program, spearheaded by the TLE Department, formally kicked off on Friday, August 14 at the HE Hostel, with an orientation for parents of the identified beneficiaries.

Rugie Joy O. Madrones, HT-III, emphasized that DNHS champions not only the academic well-being of learners but also their holistic development, which begins with nourishing their bodies with nutritious food everyday.

โ€œAt DNHS, the program also serves as an avenue to reinforce nutrition education through the principles of Pinggang Pinoy,โ€ she pointed out.

The 50 beneficiaries were identified based on their Body Mass Index (BMI), using the data gathered by School Nurse John Christopher Rabara.

The schoolโ€™s feeding initiative is funded through its income-generating project (IGP) through school canteens, with the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), with Mr. Elmer Laging who also graced the program, as a key partner in its implementation.

Meanwhile, school personnel expressed optimism that the partnership among parents, the PTA, and other stakeholders will help sustain the initiative and strengthen the schoolโ€™s nutrition programs.

The SBFP further supports DNHSโ€™ commitment as a Healthy Learning Institution, certified by the Department of Health, as the school continues to promote a safe, healthy, and supportive environment where learners can thrive.
