: Silliman University (SU) welcomed 30 international students from Hong Kong and Japan for its 2026 International Service-Learning (ISL) Program, reaffirming its commitment to global citizenship, intercultural learning, and community engagement through immersive, service-oriented education.

Organized by the SU Office of Community Engagement and Service-Learning (OCESL), the program brought together student delegates from two long-standing partner institutions in Asia. The first cohort consisted of 16 students from Chung Chi College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, who participated from June 10-20, 2026 accompanied by faculty adviser Dr. Angela Wong and program coordinator Ms. Karen Ng. The second cohort comprised 14 students from International Christian University (ICU) in Japan, who joined the program from June 30-July 25, 2026, further strengthening the University’s enduring partnership with ICU.

Our alumni officers and representatives of batch 1976 are on their toes in the preparations for founders week. Exciting activities are in store for all alumni and friends, including:
1. Social Work Open house - whole day August 26 (Social Work dept, 4th floor, Ausejo Hall)
2. Thanksgiving fellowship and devotion - 3:00 pm on August 26 (Social Work Department)
3. Balik-Talent Lecture - Hon. Evangeline Guinto PRC-PRB for Social Work chairperson (August 27 8:00-11:30 am at the AVT)
4. SUSWAA Grand Alumni Homecoming 11:30-2:00 at the 2nd floor Nutrition and Dietetics building

Contribution: P1000 (includes alumni shirt, snacks, lunch, and prizes)

Our student organization, Silliman University- Junior Social Workers Association of the Philippines (SU-JSWAP) is once again recognized as one of the top 10 performing student organizations in Silliman University. Congratulations!

Some snippets during the opening program and orientation of the 2026 International Service-Learning Program participated by students from the International Christian University- Tokyo, Japan and students of the Social Work Department who represented Silliman University. This happened last July 2, 2026 and was also joined by the community and agency partners, service-learning coordinator facilitators and the OCESL team. For 25 days, these service-learners will be immersed in agency-based and community-based programs to enhance learning and commitment to service.

Gearing up for Silliman University's foundation week with these lovely alumni!

Faculty, staff, and alumni officers of the department as well as some members of this year's host batch, SU BSSW batch 1976 came together and planned for fun and meaningful activities for founders week 2026. Initial plans include a Thanksgiving service, Balik-Talent lecture, and a grand alumni homecoming. See you during the last week of August alumni and friends!
