With UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) now underway, Security Service Force (SSF) made sure proctors and staff were equipped with fire safety know-how through a fire extinguisher demo held yesterday.

SSF inspects dormitory fire extinguishers to maintain safety and readiness at Miagao Campus.

“Preparedness saves lives — know what to do before, during, and after a collapse.”

🔺 BEFORE a Structure Collapse:

✅ Inspect Buildings Regularly – Report cracks, leaning walls, or unusual sounds to authorities.

✅ Know Exit Points – Be familiar with emergency exits in buildings you frequent.

✅ Avoid Overloading Structures – Don’t add excessive weight (e.g., heavy furniture or water containers) on upper floors.

✅ Have a Go Bag Ready – Include flashlight, whistle, first aid kit, and essential documents.

🔸 DURING a Collapse:

🧍‍♂️DROP, COVER & HOLD – If indoors and unable to evacuate, protect your head and neck. Take cover under a sturdy object.

🚪DO NOT USE ELEVATORS – Use stairs if safe to evacuate.

📢Stay Calm & Call for Help – If trapped, tap pipes or walls to alert rescuers.

🟢 AFTER a Collapse:

📞 Report to Authorities – Inform local DRRM or emergency hotlines.

🚷 Avoid Re-entering Structures – Aftershocks or secondary collapses are possible.

🩹 Administer First Aid – Assist others if safe, until trained responders arrive.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Cooperate with MRR Teams – Follow instructions from Multi-Role Responders on-site.
