UPV Psychology students proudly represented the university at the Psychological Association of the Philippines - Junior Affiliates (PAPJA) Convention held last April 27-28, 2026 at SMX Mall of Asia and De La Salle University-Manila. The convention gathered Psychology students nationwide for academic exchange, competitions, and professional development opportunities.

Our delegates joined several intercollegiate competitions, including the Inter-School Psychology Quiz Bee, Psyclips (“Panaw”), and the Songwriting Competition (“Hinga”), where the entry 𝐇𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚 was recognized with the 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝: 𝐉𝐮𝐫𝐲’𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

“It was in our Experimental Psych class under Sir Darius Salaum where each pair was asked not only to present our assignment but also to write a reaction paper on all of the other presentations. I thought to myself - that was taxing!
“With all the assignments piling up from the other subjects, extra-curricular activities, I broke down in the middle of the class. I stopped what I was doing, walked out, and went straight to the restroom to cry. Back in the classroom, Sir Darius asked my classmates, “What happened to Mary Anne?”
“What I thought was “over work” back then was just preparing me to balance life and work – the future me would be thankful for.
“There was also a time when I walked into a classroom full of freshmen waiting for the teacher to arrive. With a little push from my friends, I went to the front and asked for their class cards – to which they complied. I could pass as an instructor, I said. Well, that bold move gave me a thrill!
“I also remember when Sir Jose Go was reviewing our thesis drafts. He advised us to keep our sentences simple – It lessens errors and makes our work easier to understand. In my opinion, the best way to get the message across. It reminded us that the work that we do is not just for ourselves, but for the people who will benefit from it.
“UPV Psychology was also where I found many of my friends. We were classmates, dormmates, and even roommates after college.
“I thank the BA (Psychology) program and UPV, for teaching us life lessons early on, creating a venue for us to test ourselves, encouraging us to serve others, and helping us build bonds that go beyond the University.”

Kaka-andar pa lang ng jeep, nagsimula na agad ang magandang usapan dahil sa Another Journey Ahead: Careers and Choices 🧑‍🎓Dito, unti-unting nakita ang malawak at iba’t ibang daanan na pwedeng tahakin sa larangan ng sikolohiya. 🧠📋

Sinundan ito ng masayang kwentuhan sa Gearing up for Graduate Studies 📚para naman sa mga diretso ang tingin sa kanilang patutunguhang grad school! ’Pag baba sa dyip, lakad ng kaunti, tapos sakay ulit ng isa pang dyip sa may kanto. 🚦

Napasarap talaga ang byahe dahil may gabay. Sana pagbaba natin sa kanya-kanyang destinasyon, tandaan natin ang usapan sa dyip! 🥰

🌟❤️ Today, we celebrate 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐮𝐝, the founder of psychoanalysis, whose groundbreaking ideas transformed the way we understand the human mind and behavior!

Through his pioneering work, Freud revealed that our dreams, childhood experiences, and hidden inner conflicts are deeply connected to our personalities and actions 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽 His revolutionary theories on the 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱, 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, and 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 have profoundly shaped modern psychology, therapy, and even popular culture. From the 𝗶𝗱, 𝗲𝗴𝗼, and 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗼 to defense mechanisms, he gave us tools to discover why we do what we do.

📖 Despite his influence, Freud received substantial and valid criticisms for his works’ lack of scientific rigor and for his views on women.

Even though his ideas have been challenged, he 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 to refine his ideas, expand on his theories, or even develop new and more scientifically grounded approaches.

He continues to remain influential and shows up in conversations! 🗣️ Freud didn’t just give us theories, but an entire personality system to blame 🙄 and somehow, every random thought turns into “𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙.”

Love him or critique him, he made psychology personal and endlessly fascinating! 🧐💭
