𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐛 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐭-𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐝! 🥼✨

On April 18, 2026, the third and nth year students of the BS in Chemistry program of the University of the Philippines Visayas were officially proclaimed as OJT-ready during the Second OJT Pinning and Lab Coat Donning with the theme “𝗢𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻𝘀: 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗿𝘆”.

Joined by the professors of the UPV Department of Chemistry, proud parents, guardians, and friends, the ceremony was nothing short of exhilarating. The department chairperson, Ma'am Rica Cainglet gave her warm welcoming remarks to the students and their companions alike, reminding students of their responsibility as future chemists. The keynote speaker, Mr. Roxzien Shaye Sesbreño, RCh, a Science Research Specialist II of the DOST VI-RSTL, highlighted the impact of chemistry on various industries and the ethical and moral characteristics that must be upheld by chemists in their pursuit of excellence and service to the nation. Finally, the program was capped off by the Batch 2023 Representative, Ms. Hannah Rochellee Magno.

May the imparted words and knowledge from this ceremony bring enlightenment to the soon-to-be interns and may their respective OJT companies enhance and nurture their chemistry skills in ardent preparation for the real world, allowing them to return with newly imbued vigour!

Adorned in their iconic 2016 outfits, our members enjoyed a multitude of games and gimmicks. From karaoke sessions 🎤 to mini-broadways 🎭, 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐀𝐤𝐬𝐲𝐨𝐧: 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐌𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟔 set nothing short of an explosive conclusion for 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔!

Students from 𝗞𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, and 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 endeavoured in an invigorating chemistry workshop sure to catalyze their appreciation for the chemical science! This event started with live experiments in our very own chemistry laboratories, followed by a tour of our other laboratory facilities.

Then, the students were enlightened by talks from Kathleen Mae T. Gaspalinao, RCh, Assoc. Prof. Concepcion C. Ponce, PhD, and Mx. Eunice Marie L. Ferolino about academic and career opportunities in chemistry, as well as chemistry student culture in the university.

Finally, after a series of technical segments, a more entertaining approach was presented by exposing the students to various chemistry-related games.

Beyond the experiments, talks, and games, we hope that this event not only gave the students an understanding of chemistry, but also a deeper appreciation for the central science.
