Today, we commemorate the 117th birth anniversary of José García Villa, Filipino poet and National Artist for Literature.
Villa’s contributions to Philippine literature are nothing short of impactful. He is credited for introducing the reversed consonance rhyme scheme in poetry, as well as the extensive use of punctuation marks–particularly commas–to innovate poems, helping him earn the nickname Comma Poet. Villa’s legacy is reflected in the various fellowships and honors he received, including the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in creative writing.
Today, his body of work can be found in several books, including Doveglion: Collected Poems, Footnote to Youth, and Poems 55. Beyond Villa’s written contributions, we honor his dedication to uplifting Philippine literature and carry forward his legacy as we continue to promote Filipino voices in books and stories.

UPCAT 2025 RESULTS ARE OUT!
Application results for incoming new first-year students for AY 2025-2026 are now available.
It is encouraged to log in to the UPCAT 2025 results portal to view your results according to the allotted time slots.
Applicants who are offered a slot must reply to the offer by 31 May 2025, Saturday. Access the UPCAT 2025 results portal at https://upcat2025results.up.edu.ph/ using the login credentials you used to apply.

UPCAT 2026 admissions for incoming new first-year students for AY 2026-2027 will only be open until the extended deadline on 14 April 2025, Monday.
Current Grade 11 students this SY 2024-2025 who will graduate from senior high school by SY 2025-2026, and current Grade 12 students or Senior High School graduates who have not taken the UPCAT in the previous cycles are eligible to apply.
School officials must fill out the high school profile and confirm their students in the Form 2A portal by the extended deadline on 25 April 2025, for applicants to receive their test permit in July 2025.
UPCAT 2026 will be administered on 02 and 03 August 2025. Kindly ensure that you will be able to go to your chosen testing center on the exam dates.
Do NOT withdraw if you have entered incorrect information in your application.

Today is Graciano Lopez Jaena Day!
We celebrate the 167th birth anniversary of the Ilonggo national hero Graciano Lopez Jaena. He was born in Jaro district here on Dec. 18, 1856.
He was one of the founders and editors of La Solidaridad in 1888, which served as the mouthpiece of the Filipinos in Spain.
He also wrote in many publications in Europe, where his name became famous as the "Fighting Filipino Journalist" abroad.
