🧠💚 “Access to services — Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.”
In the Philippines, at a time when many are coping with the aftermath of natural disasters, conflicts, and public health emergencies, mental health is often the overlooked casualty. Just recently, our nation was struck by the deadliest earthquake in over a decade. It’s in these moments that the emotional and psychological wounds can run deep.
In schools and universities, guidance and counseling services play a crucial role. They are lifelines that help students and educators build resilience, and find hope after crises. But these services must be strengthened, accessible, and given the same priority as academics — especially when emergencies disrupt learning and safety.
Today, let’s remember:
- Access to mental health care should not be a privilege—it’s a right, especially in schools affected by emergencies.
- Compassion and connection with one another are bridges to healing.
So we join in the call: Let’s push further. Let’s be voices for those whose cries are drowned out. Let’s make mental health care in schools during emergencies not an afterthought, but a priority.
You are not alone. Reach out. Share hope. Heal together.

As mental health advocates, we come together to talk about mental health, continue to raise awareness about the importance of mental health in our community, reduce the stigma, and ensure that everyone has access to services and support towards the betterment of our mental health.
As we celebrate World Mental Health Month, and as we aim to continue the conversation on Su***de Prevention, join us as we start off with a short talk with the theme “You Matter: Breaking the Stigma about Mental Health and Su***de”.
Also don’t forget to visit the Mental Health Mini-Fair as organized by the Peer Facilitator’s Organization. Expect various activities related to mental health and visit the Mental Health booth and grab some freebies and sweet treats! We hope to see you!
