By order of Mayor Ruding Santos Gonzales, classes at all levels in public and private schools throughout the Municipality of Mexico are suspended on Thursday, August 20, 2026, to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and non-teaching personnel.

The suspension follows forecasts that the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will continue to bring rains over the Municipality of Mexico.

Schools may conduct online classes or implement alternative learning modalities to ensure the continuity of education.

The suspension follows forecasts that the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will continue to bring rains over the Municipality of Mexico.

Sa Memorandum Circular No. 128 na nilagdaan ni Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, ipinag-utos ng Malacanang ang pagsasagawa ng Work-from-Home (WFH) sa mga tanggapan ng gobyerno at alternative learning modes sa lahat ng pampubliko at pribadong eskwelahan bukas, Agosto 18, bilang paghahanda sa inaasahang patuloy na pagbuhos ng malakas na ulan dulot ng habagat.

Alinsunod sa rekomendasyon ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), ipatutupad ang WFH at suspension ng face-to-face classes sa mga sumusunod na lugar:

Hindi sakop ng WFH ang mga ahensya ng pamahalaang may kinalaman sa pag-deliver ng basic at health services, preparasyon at pagtugon sa sakuna at kalamidad.

Ipinauubaya naman ng Malacanang sa mga Local Chief Executives ang kapangyarihang mag-pasiya kung kinakailangang suspendihin ang pasok sa mga lugar na kanilang nasasakupan na hindi napabilang sa memorandum circular.

Nasa diskresyon naman ng pamunuan ng pribadong sektor ang pagdeklara ng suspensyon sa trabaho.

For preschool, elementary, and secondary levels, the suspension covers face-to-face classes, online classes, and all alternative learning modalities. Teaching and non-teaching personnel are also included.

For tertiary education, only face-to-face classes are suspended. Colleges and universities may implement online classes or other alternative learning modalities.

This directive follows the Red Rainfall Warning raised over Pampanga and the severe weather conditions caused by the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

Stay home when possible. Avoid flooded areas and roads. Monitor official announcements from the Municipality of Mexico and concerned government agencies.

Sa direktiba ni Mayor Ruding Santos Gonzales, suspendido ang mga klase sa lahat ng antas sa mga pampubliko at pribadong paaralan sa Municipality of Mexico ngayong Biyernes, August 7, 2026.

Saklaw ng suspensyon ang face-to-face, online, at iba pang learning modalities. Kasama rin sa suspensyon ang pagpasok ng teaching at non-teaching personnel.

Ipinatutupad ang hakbang na ito dahil sa masamang panahon dulot ng Habagat na pinalalakas ng Bagyong Maymay. Layunin nitong mapangalagaan ang kaligtasan ng mga mag-aaral at lahat ng kawani ng mga paaralan.

Pinapayuhan ang lahat na manatili sa ligtas na lugar at patuloy na subaybayan ang mga opisyal na abiso ng Municipality of Mexico at mga kinauukulang ahensya.
