KIWANIS CLUB OF MENDEZ-NUÑEZ BRINGS JOY AND NOURISHMENT TO GAHITEÑOS IN SECOND MONTH OF PROJECT BUSOG
Happiness and excitement once again filled the faces of Gahitan learners as Project BUSOG (Building Up Strong and Outstanding Generation) continued its feeding program for its second month, today, August 14.
The activity was attended by members and officials of the Kiwanis Club of Mendez-Nunez, teachers, School Parents-Teachers Association (SPTA) officers, TUPAD workers, and, most importantly, the learners who are the primary beneficiaries of the program.
Following registration was an opening program, hosted by Ms. Lorylen Ocampo. The program began with the singing of the Makabayan Song, an opening prayer, and the Kiwanis Hymn.
School Principal Mrs. Jackie Lou Pereña delivered the opening remarks and expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the individuals and organizations who continue to support Project BUSOG, particularly the Kiwanis Club of Mendez-Nunez, which served as the major sponsor for August.
“Isang malaking maraming salamat sa inyong kabutihan, malasakit at bukas-palad na pagtulong sa ating mga mag-aaral,” Mrs. Pereña said.
She also appealed for the continued compassion and cooperation of the entire school community in sustaining Project BUSOG. She emphasized that the program does more than provide food, as it also gives learners hope, promotes good health, and inspires them to grow and learn.
Meanwhile, Mr. Alvin Novicio, President of the Kiwanis Club of Mendez-Nunez, shared a short message about the organization's mission of extending help to communities, particularly to young learners. He highlighted the importance of initiatives such as feeding programs in supporting children's well-being and development.
Before the feeding activity began, Ms. Myrene Panganiban, SPTA President, delivered the closing remarks.
The activity ended with the distribution of nutritious food to the learners, bringing smiles and delight to their faces. The spirit of generosity extended beyond the learners as SPTA members and some TUPAD workers who were working at the school also received food.
Through Project BUSOG, Gahitan Elementary School continues to strengthen its partnership with stakeholders in promoting the health, well-being, and development of its learners—one nutritious meal and one act of kindness at a time.
