"I feel so happy to be able to help the children who beg me for protection. But so many do not ever come to me!" - Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal
Today, we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, a beautiful reminder of Mary’s intercession for us and a sign of faith and hope.
This devotion began in 1830, when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Saint Catherine Labouré in Paris, France. In her vision, Mary stood with rays of light shining from her hands.
Around her were the words “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.” Mary told St. Catherine to have a medal made with this image, and she promised that those who wear it with faith would receive many graces.
Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal reminds us that we are never alone, even in difficult times. Wearing the Miraculous Medal is more than just a tradition, it’s a daily reminder that Mary walks with us and brings us closer to her Son, Jesus.
Prayer:
O Virgin Mother of God, Mary Immaculate, We dedicate and consecrate ourselves to you under the title of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. May this Medal be for each one of us a sure sign of your affection for us and a constant reminder of our duties toward you. Ever while wearing it, may we be blessed by your loving protection and preserved in the grace of your Son. O Most Powerful Virgin, Mother of Our Savior, keep us close to you every moment of our lives. Obtain for us, your children, the grace of a happy death; so that in union with you, we may enjoy the bliss of Heaven forever. Amen.
