In light of the recent incident in Zamboanga and the threats circulating on social media, an Emergency School Conference was conducted with the Portulin Barangay Council to address concerns regarding the safety, security, and well-being of our learners, teachers, and the entire school community.
The conference was led by Barangay Captain Hon. Bertoldo N. Yamit, together with Barangay Councilor Hon. Winston V. Lim, who emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe and peaceful school environment. The discussion highlighted the need for vigilance, mutual respect, discipline, and cooperation among learners, teachers, parents, barangay officials, and other stakeholders.
The officials also reminded everyone that teachers and school authorities deserve respect and cooperation as they carry out their responsibility of guiding, protecting, and educating our learners. Everyone was likewise encouraged to remain vigilant, take threats posted online seriously, avoid spreading unverified information, and immediately report anything that may compromise the safety of the school community.
The conference ended on a meaningful note with a community prayer led by Sir Vinz Daryl S. Ragrag, faculty member of Portulin National High School. The prayer served as a solemn reminder that beyond every safety measure and collective effort, we also come together as one community to seek guidance, protection, strength, and peace for our learners, teachers, families, and the entire community.
This conference serves as a reminder that school safety is a shared responsibility. Through unity, open communication, respect for authority, vigilance, and a strong partnership between the school and the community, we can help ensure that our learners can study in an environment where they feel safe, respected, and protected.
