Eastern Samar State University-Maydolong Campus strengthened its commitment to hands-on teacher training through a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Education Eastern Samar Division through Dr. Nicolas G. Baylan, CID Chief, and Borongan City Division through Dr. Hazel Meneses, CID Chief, today, July 14, 2026.

The academic linkage was headed by the college of education internship coordinator, Prof. Evelyn R. Bajado, along with the college dean, Dr. Carrie Ann C. Padrique, and the program heads, Dr. Michelle R. Azura; Dr. Pasel R. Deratas represented by Mr. Vermilo Montes; Prof. Venus M. Seduco; and Mr. Ricky John V. Alde. Estern Samar State University-Maydolong Campus, through its Human Resource and Management Office, conducted a seminar on the Anti-Bullying, Anti-Hazing, and Safe Spaces (Anti-Bastos) Laws today, July 2, 2026, at the Student Development Center to strengthen institutional welfare and campus safety.

The said seminar was organized in light of recent incidents in different parts of the Philippines involving bullying, hazing, and harassment. Campus Legal Officer Atty. Paquito Hegel G. Costuna discussed the legal frameworks protecting the academic community. The faculty and staff actively participated in the sessions, raising critical questions and policy clarifications to ensure a safer and more secure environment for the entire ESSU-Maydolong community.

Eastern Samar State University-Maydolong Campus celebrated its very first board exam topnotcher, Mr. Jommy Mark S. Obina, during the Testimonial Luncheon Ceremony last June 18, 2026 at the Student Development Center.

In the said ceremony, Dr. Jerald P. Torillo, the dynamic and ever-supportive campus administrator of ESSU-Maydolong, awarded Mr. Obina a travel package to Boracay, a โ‚ฑ35,000.00 cash incentive, and an official plantilla item to join the esteemed faculty of ESSU Maydolong.

Mr. Obina is a graduate of Bachelor of Early Childhood Education program, a program with excellent and consistent track record of LET passers. With Mr. Obinaโ€™s achievement, he did not just raised the bar high for BECEd program but cemented the ESSU-Maydolong campusโ€™s reputation for academic excellence and quality education.

Eastern Samar State University - Maydolong Campus officially opened the doors of the new academic year today, June 22, 2026, welcoming the fresh and returning ESSUdyantes back to the campus for the first day of classes.

The Student Services and Alumni Affairs spearheaded a short welcome program right after the flag ceremony to briefly and formally introduce the university's dedicated faculty and staff members, ensuring students are well-acquainted with the educators and personnel who will guide them throughout the semester.

Right after the brief assembly, Campus Administrator Dr. Jerald P. Torillo conducted personal classroom visits during the day's initial periods. He interacted directly with the students, checking on the learning environment and extending warm encouragement aas the student body embarks on another year of academic excellence.

Eastern Samar State University-Maydolong Campus officially kicked off its 65th founding anniversary celebration today, June 18, 2026.

The festivities commenced with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony dedicated to Felipe Abrigo, widely recognized as a pioneering founding father of education in Eastern Samar. Following the opening rites, ESSU President Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr. delivered an inspiring keynote address to the ESSU-M community, putting an emphasis on investing in education.

The dayโ€™s event also featured an awarding ceremony recognizing dedicated faculty and staff with the Loyalty Award for their service in ESSU-Maydolong.

Concluding the opening day with a high note, a vibrant motorcade was held to honor the historic achievement of the first-ever LEPT topnotcher from ESSU-Maydolong, Mr. Jommy Mark S. Obina, and to honor all the March 2026 LEPT passers.
