(𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻) extension program of the 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗕𝗘𝗖𝗘𝗱) successfully conducted its Year 2 seminar-workshop under 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗕.𝗔.𝗧.𝗔. (𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴), carrying the theme “𝗙𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.”

Led by Teacher Elthon Jake C. Buhay, Ma.Ed., and with the collective efforts of 52 BECEd first and second year students, the activity was successfully conducted from preparation to post-implementation at the AB Conference Room, DOrSU Main Campus, on March 31, 2026. The program formally opened with the opening remarks of Ms. Dachel April D. Salimaco, followed by an energizing Zumba led by the first-year students to warm up the participants before the seminar sessions began.

Teacher Elthon Jake C. Buhay, Ma.Ed. delivered the first lecture on “Supporting Numeracy Development in Young Learners.” During his session, he introduced the BDW (Build, Draw, Write) strategy, a practical activity where teachers allow children to build concepts using objects, draw what they observe, and write or count them to strengthen numeracy understanding. He demonstrated how simple classroom objects can be utilized to teach counting and number recognition effectively. In addition, he showcased various instructional materials that teachers can use in their classrooms to make numeracy learning more interactive and engaging for young learners.

Teacher Robie V. Catubigan followed with his discussion on “Walk the Talk: Positive Guidance Strategies for Early Childhood Success.” His lecture emphasized the importance of proper guidance strategies in managing children’s behavior and supporting their emotional development. To deepen the participants’ understanding, he conducted a blindfold activity that allowed the teachers to experience situations requiring trust, patience, and clear guidance—highlighting how children may feel when navigating unfamiliar or challenging situations in the classroom.

Teacher Crispey B. Capundag shared her expertise on “Play-based Learning in Early Childhood Education.” In her lecture, she emphasized the importance of play as a central approach in early childhood teaching. She facilitated a play-based activity that allowed participants to experience firsthand how structured play can be used as a meaningful learning strategy that promotes creativity, engagement, and holistic development among young learners.

Teacher Emellie D. Careña, M.Ed. concluded the lecture series with her discussion on “Moral Development in Early Childhood Education.” She emphasized the importance of guiding children in developing positive values and behaviors at an early age. Through an activity connected to her topic, she demonstrated ways teachers can integrate lessons on respect, responsibility, and empathy into everyday classroom situations to nurture the moral growth of young learners.

Open forum sessions were conducted after every two lectures, allowing the Child Development Center teachers to raise questions based on their classroom experiences. These discussions became valuable opportunities for participants to clarify concerns and gain practical insights, as the speakers thoughtfully addressed the questions shared by the teachers.

To conclude the program, a raffle draw was facilitated by the BECEd where selected teachers received BECEd organization shirts, instructional materials prepared by the third-year students, and prop boxes prepared by the first-year students. All participants were also awarded certificates in recognition of their participation in the seminar-workshop.

Through the collaborative efforts of the BECEd students, officers, and speakers, Project T.U.D.L.O. Year 2 continues to empower educators and strengthen the practice of inclusive and developmentally appropriate teaching for young learners.

Spearheaded by the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧.𝗨.𝗗.𝗟.𝗢. is now on its second year and is currently conducting its extension activity in partnership with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

The venue is filled with energy, smiles, and excitement as we continue what we have started in supporting CDC teachers in assisting early childhood learners. This second year marks another meaningful step of learning, sharing, and serving together for the young learners we aim to help.

This second year of our extension activity is not just a continuation, but a stronger commitment to 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬, 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚!

Despite being one of the smallest programs among the nine in our faculty, BLECEd stood resilient and determined during Panaghugpong 2026 last February 25-26, 2026.

Outmatched in number but never in spirit, we rose above the challenge through unity, perseverance, and unwavering pride in our program. With hearts full of gratitude and honor, we celebrate the individuals who fought bravely and conquered their respective competitions, proving that true strength is not measured by size but by courage and commitment.

𝐃𝐎𝐫𝐒𝐔 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐀𝐆𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐀 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐬 (𝐇𝐅𝐊) 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲

Extending educational support to strengthen community literacy, Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) has begun its PAGBASA: Proffering Adequate Guide in Building a Sustainable Advocacy intervention program for the Happy Fish Kids (HFK) Community today, November 29, at Taganilao, Tamisan, City of Mati.

The HFK Learning Center started with its Day 1 of reading intervention for Grades 2–6 elementary learners, who engaged in guided reading sessions designed to improve fluency, comprehension, and foundational literacy skills.

Simultaneously, high school learners completed their diagnostic test at the Gavino Dawang Elementary School covered court, a nearby venue that provided adequate space for the assessment.

Spearheaded by DOrSU's Faculty of Teacher Education (FTEd) particularly the lead programs Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics (BSED-Math), Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED), and Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNED), the initiative, with strong support from DOrSU President Roy G. Ponce, reinforces the university’s commitment to advancing educational support in partner communities for a better culture of reading that opens doors to learning, growth, and opportunity.

This activity aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all. It also supports DOrSU's GROWTH Agenda by fostering literacy, skills development, and community empowerment as pathways to local and national progress.

Also in collaboration for the success of the activities are the invaluable support of HFK Learning Center Coordinators, Community Leaders, AIM-MPC, and the Department of Education (DepEd).

With hearts full of purpose, gratitude, and inspiration, the 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (BECEd) 𝙁𝙎 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 of 𝘿𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙤 𝙊𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 ( (DOrSU) 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙙𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙁𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙮 𝙟𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮 an experience grounded in learning, nurturing, and teaching with compassion. 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙮𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝘿𝙊𝙧𝙎𝙐 𝙉𝘾𝘿𝘾 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡, 𝙅𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝘾. 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙯 𝙅𝙧. 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡, 𝙁𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙯𝙖𝙧 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙤 𝙈𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙤 𝙈𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙡𝙤 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙤 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡, the 32 aspiring educators showcased their growth as future facilitators of meaningful early learning.

Guided by the unwavering support of 𝐅𝐒 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐬. 𝐃𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝐋. 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐨, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐌𝐬. 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐃. 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞ñ𝐚, and 𝐅𝐒/𝐒𝐓 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐂. 𝐁𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐲, the culmination event became a celebration of transformative experiences, reflective sharing, and heartfelt appreciation for the nurturing guidance of cooperating teachers and partner schools.

As the BECEd trainees reflected on their journey, they revisited classroom memories filled with laughter, challenges, discoveries, and the joys of witnessing young learners blossom. The event emphasized a meaningful message: that 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. ❤️

Indeed, this culmination was more than the closing of a chapter it marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to educate, inspire, and make a difference in the lives of young learners.

The Family Fun Day began with bright smiles, cheerful energy, and families ready to enjoy a day filled with fun and togetherness. It was a beautiful start, one we were all excited to share.

𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙠, 𝙬𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧. We understand the disappointment, but everyone’s safety will always be our top most priority.

Still, the spirit of the event lived on. 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗘𝗱 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘆, 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗢𝗿𝗦𝗨 𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗣. This simple act of care aims to extend help and support to those who were greatly affected by the calamity. In moments of uncertainty, your support became a source of comfort and kindness to others.
